Pistol with light will be it this year. I sent a PM with a little further info though.

I will edit it when I get to the office tomorrow, but shooting will go until 10. Checking will start at 4:30, briefing at 5, targets get set out until 5:29,
5:30 sharp, ranges go hot, with a break every 30 min or so, at the RSOs discretion.

You would have to ask Burro Canyon, as this is a special event.

Please make sure that the ranges stay open until 10. If I remember correctly for the first event at Burro they closed down like 1 hour early. Thank you.

I shall do my best, but Burro gets the last word. I believe a small miscommunication with the last cease fire was the issue last time, and their only being 20~ minutes left.

Folks on the fence, I need to confirm we will have enough tacos. If you haven't already purchased your food/admission ticket, please do so ASAP, so I can give them an accurate head count. I would hate to not have enough food.

So I been shopping around for glow sticks. M&I has them for $2 each and Target has some in the front of the store in the $1 section for $1. Target also has some led flashing wristbands that come in red. I was thinking of taking the red flashing led lights off our bicycles. Would those be ok for going down range?

We also are saving our used milk cartons. Any other ideas?

Maybe I'm too excited about this shoot.

Lots of glow stuff at http://coolglow.com/1/1/Glow-Products/

Paint up your targets. Balloons full of glow paint. Old pumpkins full of glow paint. Get a UV flashlight and charge up some glow-in-the-dark stickers, etc.

Red will be the safety color, so please don't use it on targets.

Based on my experiences with previous night shoots here's a couple of things:

Get good glow sticks. Avoid the ones from the 99 cent store or dollar store or equivalent. They will work fine for the first hour or so an after that they aren't as bright anymore and are pretty much useless. I found some good deals on Amazon and Ebay.

Wear a yellow safety vest when going downrange. Even though you'll have the red glow sticks on you it couldn't hurt to have additional way's of being seen. This is one time where I definitely want to be seen as much as possible when going down range.

The 99 cent store has some red led flashers that you can buy or even some reflective strips with red led's and those will work just fine too.

It helps to have a headlamp an even a lantern around your table.

For targets some people would take a glow stick and drop it into a water jug and use that as a target. Other's would take several glow sticks and stick them around their target frame for illumination. I even saw one guy use a black light one year. Just remember whatever you place out on the range, expect it to get shot at and possibly be destroyed. The guy with the black light didn't think about that and when it accidentally got destroyed he wasn't too happy.

For the low light pistol room clearing drill can we use a regular flashlight and hold it weak hand cross over under strong hand, or does it have to be mounted to the pistol?

Less than two weeks away, I am going to lock in the headcount for the tacos shortly, please purchase your tickets if you haven't already done so, so I can have an accurate headcount as to how much food we need to order. Last year we ordered 450 extra people, and still came up short.

I will have five arrows tactical answer the questions regarding the range.

Was going to wait until this Friday to place an order, but I will do so now! I hope it will be sufficiently dark at the shoot.

We will indeed have less light at this shoot, as we have had in the past, but of course, enough to safely shoot.

Costco has some very cheap LED headlamps for $7 for a three pack! I bought 4 packs!

I'm planning to take my two daughters 7 & 8 years old to the appleseed shoot that same day at that same range.

Could I just purchase 3 tickets to attend the event? Or is there an age limit?

Also, for the room clearing drill I will pay at the event?

Are the tickets transferable? My buddy might not be able to go now but my wife has actually expressed interest in taking his place.

If they can attend an Appleseed, I don't see why not they can't come to this.

So I went and bought a new gun and was excited for the shoot. Long story short my 10 days is on the same day as the shoot. Problem is they close at 5pm on Saturdays and my pick up is at 5:30

Well the owner of Alamo Guns and Pawn is going to stay open for me after I called and explained the night shoot and calguns!

If anyone is looking for any new guns or anything stop by on the way. They are on Azusa Ave right off the 10 freeway on the way to burro. Give them a try. I've been very happy and will use them again just for the love they have shown me.

544 N Azusa Ave
West Covina, CA 91791

Pass Rowland St. on the right side of the street before Puente Ave

(New guns. Don't let the "pawn" push you away.)

All, We are only at 21 taco orders. I don't think the taco lady will agree to anything that small.

We have 3 options...
Go with another type of food...
Remove food altogether (nobody ever chooses this one)
Sell an extra 25-50 food tickets. (probably even less likely)

Input please. Normally this event is a 150 person event, as of date, we have only sold about 40 tickets.

I'm fine with another food although I don't know what else unless you have some sort of catering truck come out. I used to know someone that worked on the In-and-Out truck. That would have been pretty awesome.

I didn't buy food in fear or it not being so great or not having enough.

InNOut would cost more and would need even more people I would think. But would be awesome! Haha.

What's the deal on kids and tickets. I'm think about taking my son too.

The $20 entrance goes directly to burro (minus the eventbrite fees). It is my understanding that anyone shooting or handling firearms, needs to pay for admission.

In N Out, I reached out to about 10 weeks ago, they were not available that night. I have a friend who owns a small Taco Stand, they are good taco's, i can reach out to him and see if he is available. I did not approach him first, as I didn't think he would be able to meet demands, and since the demands are far less then anticipated, he could def handle it.

It's too late to lock in any large company, and the minimum number is likely far off their minimums.

No AR / AK style pistols for the low light room clearing. I recommend that you use a flashlight in your weak side hand for the room clearing exercise portion, and will be giving instruction prior to anyone doing the entry. You pay for the room clearing at the event, payment can be cash, check, money order, or credit card. Any other questions, please feel free to PM me regarding the room clearing portion.

May I suggest Huarache Azteca. They catered for my friend's party before and it was just a small/medium-sized group. They make good al pastor tacos and for reasonable price. Here's a Yelp link: http://www.yelp.com/biz/huarache-azt...te-los-angeles

I am in no way affiliated with them. I love tacos. King Taco and this is on top of my list for good taco in LA. I just thought I'd share this info. I believe they are also flexible for last minute reservations.

Nvm my post above. I just realized 21 taco order @ $10 each is only $210. I think they require at least $500 to cater. Sorry I was not much help.

If you still want to check around, this place also has a taco truck. They are just in my neighborhood and decent tacos for gringos and non-gringos. They are small enough so they might be able to cater to our small group.

We will figure out the Taco stuff, even if I have to grill them up myself.

Ok.. that was a joke.

Did we ever get confirmation of vendors that will be there? Will there be t-shirts again. I loved last year's shirt.

Maybe it's just me, but by my observations, it seems like promotion/advertising for this year's event is a little lacking compared to last year. Perhaps not garnering as much hype leading to slower ticket sales?

The Vendor this time was not able to gather enough people to come up that day, so unless I can get someone else quickly, then I doubt it.
With that being said, if a CalGuns preferred Vendor has something they want to show off, and is available this Saturday Night... shoot me a PM.

Regarding Advertising, I posted it in 2 forums, which I usually do, but that day is an Appleseed event day, and many of the normal volunteers who normally show up, are not available. Then, we also did the Super Secret Zombie shoot just last weekend, so people are still shoot content from that. I believe the way the Chapters are now set up, makes it a little more difficult to find events, when we have 3-4 active events going per month.
I'm going with a small mixture of things. As always, I am open to suggestions.

No Tshirt's this year.

I'm excited either way. I hope to meet a lot of good people and plan on enjoy a different style shoot at night. I have saved a ton of plastic bottles, milk cartons and plastic liquor bottles. Buying more glow sticks from Home Depot this week. Forecast says rain Saturday so I'm bring a couple EZ-Ups, chairs and tables. I also packed a lantern and some flashlights. Even it it's 5 people I I'm excited. I'm going to stop at a Subway, InNOut or something for food.

If we can bring a BBQ I'm down to do that too.

Propane grills are allowed.

Charcol and wood grills are a no go.
