Default Best way to touch up an AR receiver?

I have a Sig P516 that I need to remove some engraving from. This is being done at a machine shop, and the receiver will be left with some areas of bare metal on the side. Does anyone have experience using touch up paint on an AR? I have encountered a few suggestions: black sharpie, a few Birchwood Casey products, Alumablack (which sounds complicated). Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have also heard that high-heat flat black automotive spray paint can work.

"touch up" usually means a partial job not covering the complete piece/panel.

No "touch up" ever looks perfect.
The answer is to paint the WHOLE GUN.
Then, it will all match.

At the very minimum, paint the WHOLE RECEIVER.

I've had some success with Muriatic Acid to clean the area, quickly followed by q-tip swabbing with Birchwood Casey Aluminum Black.

Colors vary from dark gray to black, depending on the Aluminum.

Caveat; Use the usual safety protocols when using acid.

Thanks, everyone. I may leave some bare metal and see how it sells. If not, I'll contact you individually to ask about technique.

The AR pistol was converted to an AOW so I could put a forward vertical grip on it. To do that, I had to create a gun trust so I could get it on the ATF NFA registry. All items in the gun trust have to have the name of the trust and city/state engraved on them. To sell it, I have to take it off the NFA registry, so I wanted to sell it without the engraving on it (which actually has my name on it).
