MP5 forward handgrip legality?
I have a really fun little MP5 .22 that I put a forward rail on. On the rail, I attached a flashlight/lasersight and a handgrip. Is that legal?

Under CA laws, the only things you need to be concerned about in regards to rimfire rifles is the length. Minimum 16" barrel length [PC 17170(a)] and minimum 26" overall length [PC 17170(b)]. ^Overall length is measured with the rifle in the shortest possible firing configuration (stock folded/collapsed).

for future reference, don't post a picture of something you've done while asking if it's legal. What if the answer was no? Ask "can I do something" first. That would apply to lots of things, not just guns.

OMG, I can make a tennis ball on a string dance at 25 yards with either the red dot sight so nobody else can see where I'm aiming, or turn on the laser and light it up. It is REALLY fun. And I'm finally seeing .22 ammo back in stock in large numbers around town, so good times.
I remember doing some internet research when I first added the rail and handgrip a couple years ago and seeing that rimfires are pretty much exempt, but I wasn't sure if any recent changes had happened that'd make me a felon waiting to happen without me even realizing it. Appreciate all the good info from this site, thanks! Last edited by Chris4943; 09-23-2018 at 3:44 PM.. |
