Default ITTS training not allowing glock 19?

I don't have any handgun experience and is interested in getting some formal training from ITTS here in souther CA. I have a Glock 19 and obviously would like to be proficient in using this gun. But when I called them a gal said I can't use a compact Glock 19 for the class. She insisted that I need to rent a Glock 17 because it's more accurate. Does that sound right?

The point of me taking this class is to be comfortable using my own gun. Not to mention they charge $100 to rent the gun/ammo for the day. Now if indeed they don't allow Glock 19, do you guys have any recommendation of good training facilities (in southern CA) where I can use my G19 for training? Thanks in advance.

The person on the phone may have thought you had a 26 or some other sub compact. I too would discourage someone from a multi day service pistol style class with a sub compact and as a new shooter. Discourage, not prohibit.

Any place that won't let you take a class with a 19 should not get your business. I'm partial as an ex-instructor, but I recommend Aegis Academy near San Diego.

I recommend Firearms Training Associates

I have used a Glock 23 at ITTS and seen others use the 19/23 in their classes with no issues. I disagree with the last poster on Firearms Training Associates. I have taken multiple classes from both, and FTA is nowhere near the same level.

I wonder if it's worth calling again or emailing and seeing if you get a different answer. That's just weird unless they're just trying to make money on rentals.

I wouldn't take a training class if I couldn't use the gun I wanted to train with...

If you already own the gun, I sure wouldn't rent it from them either.

I used my G19 in the 5 Day Ultimate Tactical Handgun course, and they had no problem. They like you to use a 1911, just like many other schools, but if you can hit, you can hit.

They have no problems with using a Glock 19.

They wouldn't. Someone is mistaken. I've done plenty of training at ITTS with a G19.

The OP will be welcomed with open arms if he shows up with a G19.

Rep from ITTS cleared up this misunderstanding over in the OP's original thread on the subject. Bottom line, ITTS says Glock 19 is gtg.
