Default Any M1 Garand shooters?

Curious if anyone here shoots the M1 - just bought one from the CMP, looking to get to a range with it, would obviously like to get some practical know-how from those that know the rifle. Thanks.

You only make that mistake once... I know....

Garands are awesome. Only problem is ammo. Many ranges do not allow magnetic surplus ammo. New factory Garand safe 30-06 is much more expensive.

But I always get excited when it rains. I grab my Garand and head to Burro!

I am the hopeful heir to a national match my from my stepdad. And as far as ammo, I'm already getting compo ends to load for it.

Thank you for the link - I do eventually want to get into reloading, this will get me started with something to shoot and brass to reload!

raahauges in Corona allows magnetic. A little pricy, but it's the closest I think.

I'm in the same boat right now, I received my M1 back in August, but the only rounds I have are magnetic (HXP) I'm getting tired of waiting so I pulled a few bullets and reloaded them with non magnetic bullets. Hopefully I'll find some time to make it to the range to test it out.

If you ever want to head to Raahauges, let me know!

I have a Garand made in February of 1943 and it is a great rifle. You will enjoy yours for sure.
