Default Steyr AUG Rifle

Atlantic Firearms is now a Steyr Arms authorized distributor and will be offering a wide variety of the Steyr AUG rifles and pistols .These are made in Austria and imported in the US by Steyr Arms USA. We should be expanding our line of California Legal Steyr AUG rifles in the next few weeks .

So this is what these guys got:

Dear gun shops, please don't order this stock. I love Steyr, but they have decided to go with IRREMOVABLE fin plate. So that means - if you ever take your AUG out of state or laws change, you're stuck with that thick metal plate fused into the polymer.

Do your homework and order removable fin grips.

Horrible idea. Was eagerly waiting, but will pass on it now.

We are working on other options and have a few other ideas and have found a barrel extension .The only downside is some CA dealers want the extension welded in place or permanently attached .

> Fin Grip
> 20in barrel + 13mm x 1 LH to 1/2-28 RH Thread Adapter + Any ar15 muzzle break. Or pinned/welded 16" barrel - which is a silly option, just get 20" barrel.
> 10 rd native or nato mag

That is it. You might have to do conversions outside the state. This is what wbtguns.com has set up - they convert in AZ and import here.

Unless I'm mistaken, the new regs REQUIRE the OAL to be permanent for featureless bullpups. So why would that be a downside...they can't be sold any other way.

Quiet chimed in on this and said that the muzzle device does not have to be perma'd because the DOJ withdrew that bit of underground legislation.

The permanently attached part only mattered for the now closed AW registration.

No. After a few aborted attempts the regulations stuck.

As of January 8th, 2019 11 CCR 5460 applies 11 CCR 5471 to PC 30515 and therefore PC 30600 plus PC 30605.

From the DOJ website https://oag.ca.gov/firearms/regs

The definitions of terms in section 5471 of this chapter shall apply to the identification of assault weapons pursuant to Penal Code section 30515.
11 CCR ยง 5471. Registration of Assault Weapons Pursuant to Penal Code Section 30900(b)(1); Explanation of Terms Related to Assault Weapon Designation.alifornia Code of Regulations
and 11 CCR 5471(x) only includes permanently affixed muzzle devices for PC 30515(a)(3)

Quote:
(x) “Overall length of less than 30 inches” with respect to a centerfire rifle means the rifle has been measured in the shortest possible configuration that the weapon will function/fire and the measurement is less than 30 inches. Folding and telescoping stocks shall be collapsed prior to measurement. The approved method for measuring the length of the rifle is to measure the firearm from the end of the barrel, or permanently attached muzzle device, if so equipped, to that part of the stock that is furthest from the end of the barrel, or permanently attached muzzle device. (Prior to taking a measurement the owner must also check any muzzle devices for how they are attached to the barrel.)
