Informal Action Match - OK Corral
Hi, guys. Since the October Match was a bust due to inclement weather, we will be doing the OK Corral Match in November. Please bring your cowboy type firearms, as well as the modern stuff, as we plan on an old school and modern string for each stage. We will also have a cowboy themed 3 gun stage.
Sat Nov 10th at Burro Canyon 9 AM Check in with us at the first private range on the right as you enter the driveway. We handle the check in and payment for the range. alrich77@hotmail.com It’s October and that means it’s time for the OK Corral shoot on Saturday, Oct 13 at 9AM at Burro Canyon. We will be recreating the most infamous gunfight of the Old West for our Club Match this month. We will shoot as both the Earps and as the Cowboys to see how we fare. This year there is a twist. We will shoot each stage twice, once with the traditional period correct single actions, and once with our modern firearms, so bring BOTH your cowboy guns and your self loaders. There will also be a cowboy themed three gun stage, so bring your lever actions and side by side shotguns. Come on out even if you don't have cowboy guns. You can shoot what you bring. The match is usually over by about 2 PM and then we have the range all day so you can stick around afterwards and shoot informally. Our match is for fun. No prizes - just bragging rights. We run the normal procedures and safety rules, keep score and have timers and metal targets (poppers, plate rack, etc) we get to use if it has rained recently enough to mitigate fire hazard. It is probably boring and easy for hardcore competitors but for those who want to try a match out or shoot for fun, it is great.

Children over 12 are welcome to shoot, too. My son started at about 14. Gordon's wife was there last month, too.

I have my Rossi 92 in .45 Colt and my Ruger Flat top all ready to go for Saturday, along with my Chinese clone of a Win 1897 shotgun. You can also bring along your modern firearms as we will be shooting the stages with both modern and cowboy era guns.

This Saturday - can shoot either cowboy guns or new firearms. We will have stages for both, along with a cowboy themed 3-gun. No holster? Start from the low ready position. No rifle or shotgun? Bring 12 ga and .223 ammo. I am sure someone would let you shoot their revolver or lever action if you bring some factory .45 Colt. Or just shoot what you bring....even .22 rimfire cowboy guns are okay.
9 AM at Burro Canyon. First private/tactical range on the right as you enter, across from the office. Sign in with us, not at the office.
