The DL alone won't do it unless the locals have incorporated software to automatically query a number of different state data bases.
They have to run the "known persons" file. That will bring up the CII# (California Information and Identification Number - it's on your CCW, and, if you have one, your RAP sheet) and your CCW status.
If they run a firearms check through AFIS on your name, the guns on the CCW will come up.
