Default New Bolt Action Brass Catcher for positional parctice

Filmed Chong, a guy in my squad during our Avenal Southwest Regional Qualifier this weekend using a brass catcher.

This first gen from KET just clips on an off your scope with one simple clip, it is soft and didnít seem bulky-Seemed to work well.. but I didnít get to try it.

We had at least one Rattle snake on the trail and one off the trail.. so the idea of not reaching into holes or grass for brass sounded appealing.

Winds someone said at the end gusted up to 32mph.. lots of rain and mud, but we had a good time.

BTW in transparency they sponsored the stage.. but I am posting because I thought it might be cool especially for practicing when the grass is really tall or the area rocky etc.

Video just before the storm came rolling in and the rain gear came out

I use the caldwell brass catcher on my AR and tac star unit on the Tikka bolt action, both available from Midway.

I'll wait for the version that allows me to attach my dope card to it.

Lol funny you say that he has Velcro for that (like adding the sidewinder dope card holder) - but I think he had is name or some patch on it instead.

I spent 13 stages (14 with the Accu-Shot Challenge) watching him when I was not on deck across a bunch of obstacles. Other than forgetting his arm-board (dope holder) where he had to call an audible and use the match book and where he kept a cool head, the brass catcher seemed to work well.

Here are some random stage photos. The truck stage was taken in the am before the match started as it went on, the blue sky disappeared and we got a tornado watch on our cell phones..

Ps we all had long range radios in the squads for the areas the cells did not work

I've yet to shoot my first PRS match but I should be ready in 2020.

The day started out super promisingó

But this was the attire once the rain rolled in..

Shooter shown is SF native Chris D well after the match showing off his $45 Everyday Snipers cup he grabbed from the prize table. Some people peeled off before the prizes were handed out so I think every one who staged walked the table

Does it catch the brass or just keep it from flying off?

Yeoww, if I had shown up it would have been in shorts, t-shirt, and a hat.

You are fast .. Their main product is a CQB thing like youíre thinking.

This is the same idea but larger and catches the brass..

The Caldwell and others take to long and many of the obstacles do not work with them.

I only watched him when I was not shooting or on deck.. it seemed to work super well but isít for the AR with a 30 round mag dump - ideally

You may want to actually try something out before you talk badly about it... comes off as being uninformed and a shill. No offense.

The Caldwell goes on and off in a second. I havenít found any shooting situation where it gets in the way, yet. And it doesnít get in the way in the manner that this solution appears to - in my opinion. This is why it is good to have options... something for everybody.

Glad youíre high on this alternative, and good luck to the inventor.

Just so you are aware, I have shot the Caldwell on ARs ó

Not sure who you are, maybe we have shot NRL & PRS matches together, but probably not or this discussion would not be taking place.

I am not whoring this product, hell not 100% sure myself, but I do know the Caldwell in my world is a no go period.

Now, I could go on about where this idea came from, but thatís not my story to tell.

I can assure you that while your Caldwell might be wonderful for your AR at your range adventure, it simply is not for PRS or NRL, nothing about it is.

I have wanted a brass catcher for a bolt gun, but was always thinking it was never done because he case could potentially bounce back into the action. This happens to me on occasion when shooting off a backpack when squirrel and coyote popping. Hard to tell from the pictures, but is there an extended frame that could prevent this from happening from what you saw?
