As far as a Health Matters. Sodomy would kill your wife ( a sin ).

https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-...s/syc-20354140

Several factors have been found to increase the risk of anal cancer, including:
  • Older age. Most cases of anal cancer occur in people age 50 and older.
  • Many sexual partners. People who have many sexual partners over their lifetimes have a greater risk of anal cancer.
  • Anal sex. People who engage in receptive anal sex have an increased risk of anal cancer.
  • Smoking. Smoking cigarettes may increase your risk of anal cancer.
  • History of cancer. Those who have had cervical, vulvar or vaginal cancer have an increased risk of anal cancer.
  • Human papillomavirus (HPV). HPV infection increases your risk of several cancers, including anal cancer and cervical cancer. HPV infection is a sexually transmitted infection that can also cause genital warts.
  • Drugs or conditions that suppress your immune system. People who take drugs to suppress their immune systems (immunosuppressive drugs), including people who have received organ transplants, may have an increased risk of anal cancer. HIV — the virus that causes AIDS — suppresses the immune system and increases the risk of anal cancer.

The idea that sex is for procreation only seems rather absurd on the face of it. If that were the case, then women would go into heat(become fertile) once, or twice, a year. Boobs would not be visible, and would only appear when needed for nursing. The clitoris is an organ totally not needed for reproduction as it serves simply to improve the pleasure of the experience.
If sex for purposes of anything other than simply reproduction is a sin, does that make it sinful for a married couple where the wife is post menopausal, and can no longer have kids, to have sex? But then, maybe that is why Leah gave Jacob her handmaiden, Zilpah, to "wife". Since she had left child bearing. Gen.30:9.

Remember, the Bible is a book written by Jews, for Jews, about Jews. So, one must be very careful when listening to the Gentile Chritian Church's explanations of what it really says and means. One's salvation does not come from what the Church says, but rather, what the Bible says.

Driving a car causes cancer. Tap water causes cancer. Ground water causes cancer. Dirt causes cancer.

... shooting a gun causes cancer. Handing ammo causes cancer. The sun causes cancer. Air pollution causes cancer.

Your premise doesnt strike you as absurd?

Most dog owners know that female dogs have a clitoris. Most people recognize the clitoris as an organ of pleasure; "not required for reproduction".

Suggesting that pleasure and reproduction are unrelated misses the point that people are motivated to repeat acts that provide pleasure; and that pleasure is the immediate reward for acts that increase the odds of reproduction.

Eating also produces pleasure; even in the absence of hunger. Hunger ensure motivation for the individual to eat enough to survive. Pleasure ensures that the individual will eat regularly.

Pleasure seeking and the survival of the species are interlinked. Where things get tricky is when other are judged for pleasure seeking that may be unhealthy for them; as in gluttony. Or anal sex. Or sex in general; especially when those standing in judgement of others are not getting any themselves.

Speaking of food, the alimentary canal is intended to absorb nutrients from food, and to hold undigested waste until it is convenient to eliminate that waste. The fact that most people prefer to eliminate this waste in private and alone, might be a clue as to whether the rectum is a sexual organ or not.

Perhaps a precedent was set when the reproductive organs were arranged to share structures with the other waste eliminating organs, as in urogenital organs. Else, the argument that pleasure/reproduction and elimination are separate functions, and never the twain shall meet.

One reason to refrain from anal sex may be rectal prolapse. Such damage is celebrated in latter-day porn as "rose-budding".

Personally, I am very aware of what I feel like doing with a woman, and anal is not on that list. Anal has as much appeal as eating soil. Some people do it and pleases them. The rest look on in horror, metaphorically speaking.

What consenting adults do should be nobody else's business. However, in an ideal world men and woman that "must have anal" should declare that on the first date, to prevent disappointment later, before any attachment forms. Can a married couple get bored and then experiment with anal later to keep the sex lives "fresh"? Possibly; but your friends and neighbors probably don't want to hear about it. Neither do people on a gun-centric or religious forum.

Is anal between husband and wife sin? Read the Bible and decide for yourself.

Anyone who believes that sex is a sin when the act is intended for pleasure rather than reproduction, has not read the whole Bible; or don't understand it. I recommend they start by reading Song of Solomon: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/...+1&version=NIV

It starts with:
Quote:
Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth—
for your love is more delightful than wine.
3 Pleasing is the fragrance of your perfumes;
your name is like perfume poured out.
No wonder the young women love you!
4 Take me away with you—let us hurry!
Let the king bring me into his chambers.

https://www.biblegateway.com/passage...+7&version=NIV

Quote:
How beautiful you are and how pleasing,
my love, with your delights!
7 Your stature is like that of the palm,
and your breasts like clusters of fruit.
8 I said, “I will climb the palm tree;
I will take hold of its fruit.”
May your breasts be like clusters of grapes on the vine,
the fragrance of your breath like apples,
9 and your mouth like the best wine

Now, it turns out that the same sect that believes sex is only for reproduction, also consider contraception and masturbation a sin. Never mind that the latter may be a useful safety valve to prevent fornication and adultery. That sect simply wanted to maximize the population available to support it financially, and in years gone by, act as soldiers to widen its political reach.

Ahem. You guys need to remember that sodomy isn’t just anal but oral too

https://www.criminaldefenselawyer.co...odomy-laws.htm
What Is Sodomy?

Acts that fall within the definition of sodomy can vary quite a bit. The narrow definition of sodomy might include only anal sex between two men. Sodomy can also be more broadly defined to include any sexual penetration aside from vaginal intercourse, including oral and anal sex, whether between two men or two women or a man and a woman. Laws differ on whether sodomy includes digital penetration and cunnilingus. Sometimes, sodomy laws also prohibit bestiality (sex with animals).

It is the official teaching of the church of LDS, that whatever goes on behind closed doors between a man and his wife, is between themselves. This carries a presupposition that the man honors his wife, and the wife lovingly supports his man. In general terms, anything goes that is agreed upon.

I would think most Protestant denominations don't think so? I though Catholics and Orthodox Jews may consider it so due to it not leading to procreation?

I personally don't think it would be considered sinful within a male/female marriage but I actually am genuinely curious about this.

Please no trolls or nonsense in this thread. This isn't OT.
“The husband must fulfill his duty to his wife, and likewise also the wife to her husband. The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does; and likewise also the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does. Stop depriving one another, except by agreement for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer, and come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control." 1 Corinthians 7:3–5

The "duty" here refers to sexual intimacy. In a marriage each partner is to satisfy the sexual needs of the other. There are no prohibitions placed on the type of sexual activity. This is not to say that the husband can force himself upon his wife, or vise versa, both should mutually agree on the "type" of sexual activity. Sex in marriage is intended by God to be pleasurable. Whatever both the husband and the wife agree upon is acceptable.

That having been said, there are certain types of sexual activity which can be hazardous to one's health. This is such a delicate area I do not want to elaborate any further, but if you have questions about sexual activity which can be unhealthy I suggest you talk to your physician. I am sure they would not recommend engaging in unhealthy acts.

The point of the passage above is that husbands and wives are to meet the sexual needs of their partners. To fail to do so will allow Satan an opportunity to cause one or both to stumble.
