Default 2" vs 2.25" Duty Belt

Happy Holidays,

I am seeking the experience and first-hand knowledge of those that have worn both the 2" and 2.25" duty belts.

Which one do you prefer and is there an advantage on one over the other?

I know the traditional old school Sam Brown belts are 2.25" and that is the "standard" size. But if that's the case then why are all these companies coming out with 2" only duty belts? Like 5.11 and Uncle Mike. There must be a advantage to the 2"?

I currently have a 2.25" belt and if I buy a 2" one, will I have any problem with any of my current gears transferring over?

Thank you for your time.

1/4" won't make much difference. Some items may tilt a little, but not significant enough to interfere with your daily duties. You may have to get used to it.

I rock a 2" OD Blackhawk with size specific pouches etc. Just the thought of say my mag pouches with a belt loop for a 2.25" may have some play to it. Not something I want.

So I guess if you have larger pouch loops they may have some play to it. A "wobbler" if you will. Get it...a "wobbler" lol wow yeah I just went there.

I wish we could carry thick, padded and supportive belts with suspenders underneath a tailored vest carrier.

You will find a lot of guys on duty end up with herniated L5/S1 and C4/5/6 vertebrae as a result of wearing the belts and vests.
