Title says it all. Looking for a shooting partner to go to the range or national forest. Let me know if you are in the area.

There are a few of us that shoot the USPSA match in Blue Lake. There is one on the third Sunday of October. You should come check it out and say hi. A lot of local shooters there

I think there are only a couple handfuls of people in the Humboldt area who are actively on CalGuns.

bump! When work mellows out towards the end of the month and hunting season is over I would be down to go punch holes in some paper...or try out the ar500 steel that has been sitting in the corner forever

I'll try and make it out. Kevin at old west has invited me but I just haven't had a chance to make it.

Subed, I'm here in Mckinleyville. I go to redwood gun club almost every weekend. I just started going to Old West in eureka for pistol shooting when the weather isn't good. I also know a few spots off 299 that I go to when I'm feeling like going out to the wilderness.

I'm around also. Free time is something of a luxury but just renewed at Redwood Gun Club.

Sounds like Redwood is the place to be!~ I'll be back in Eureka with my nice new SA Loaded Target early next week. Have to check Redwood out!! Not fond of indoor ranges, but it is nice at least that we have that option too if the weather in not cooperating!!

Very nice! My next handgun will definitely be either a full size glock or 1911. This is what I have for now.

I'm ready whenever you guys are. I still consider myself a somewhat new shooter, I have been shooting for just over a year and I'm pretty much self taught. I'm also probably alot younger then you guys but I'm always happy to take pointers from people who may have more experience.

I just got back from a session of punching paper at Old West. Minutes from where we are living and too tempting for a lunch time range trip!!

Which range is that? Redwood and Fortuna are the only others (organized) I know of and I thought both were only open on weekends.

Are Simpson and Long Prairie Gun and Archery the same? If so, then I was told yesterday that at least Long Prairie will not be open until at least October, and maybe not until the end of the year.

Got a link? I work at home for myself and despite my boss being a jerk, he doesn't block my net access

They are the same range, used to be called simpson, is now long prairie. You can tell how long somebodies been around by what they call it. It is currently closed as Green Diamond (the new name for Simpson Timber) is logging the valley behind the gun club this spring/summer.

I shoot uspsa with the other guys above. I actually like Redwood too. I need to go and try out a rifle I just bought to see if it works or not. Although I prefer to shoot at the outdoor or the river bar I won't knock Kevin at the indoor. He's a heck of a nice guy and super knowledgeable. Definitely not a source of gun shop FUD.

I just saw in the redwood stumper that it looks like Redwood is going to start accepting long prairie membership cards while the logging is going on.

It's only like $10 to go to redwood so it's not too bad. I used to go to the river bar a lot but sold my truck and bought a new subaru. I'm sure the car could make it but don't want to jack up my car.

I may go shoot this weekend depending on if my wife runs the avenues marathon or not. Plus I need to brew more beer too. Life is tough. I'll post on here If I go to redwood on Sunday at 10. Remember, it's mozzy season and they're thick right now. I always have some repellent in my car.

The local range isn't open on weekdays but the riverbar and national forest is always there.

Sorry, I spaced this thread. My wife ended up running the avenue of the giants marathon so I was hanging out with the kids. I definitely need to get an outdoor shoot in to try out a new rifle. Weather looks to be good but it's also mother's day so I'll be occupied with all the duties of a good husband.

No worries deadcoyote. After you posted about Mother's Day I remembered graduation is the week after that. We might want to wait till all the hubbub has died down.
