Default Pin on muzzle breaks on Ak's

I have a converted saiga and an uninstalled folding stock that I'd like to install; however, I need to install a muzzle break as well in order to make it under 30" folded.

I found this pin on muzzle break and was wondering if anyone had experience installing one and how they hold up.

I agree. I'd go check out Apex and get everything you need for the install. Spring, detent , pin & the muzzle break. FSB I think needs to come off. Maybe a smith will do it correctly for you you. Or if you handy you try.

The slant break will not increase the overall length to 30" or greater.

They do not hold up under rapid fire.

Do a full mag dump and watch it to go down range.

Even with a notch and lock-tite?

The brake does not need to be pinned to make length 30".

To make barrel length 16" is the only thing that needs to be pinned.

The OP is asking about pinning on the muzzle device because the rifle does not have a threaded barrel.

I used a touch of black locktite on my old brake ( no pin ). Sucker never moved in over 5k rounds.

I typically avoid products from vendors like NC Star and Leapers, etc. Generally low quality and low reliability items that often don't last long. I know the prices are tempting, but you the old adage, "You get what you pay for...", is in play here.

Would it be possible to get the barrel threaded?

Just pin the stock open. The utility of a folding stock is lost when you increase the barrel length in order to meet OAL.

Was the barrel threaded or did you just slip it on?
