No the real questions is as follows: If the mass shooter was firing and you knew Nancy Pelosi was in the movie theater, would you engage? It is a viable question to the hypothetical.

Hhahhaha ... always entertaining when this same type topic question comes around.

Everybody has THE answer ... when there is NO answer. The possibilities are infinite

There is only good personal defense training, and if/when situation presents itself - good, on your feet THINKING.

Nice answer. I might even throw the shooter a spare mag if SanFranNan was there.

I would only engage as long as i was not placing others in greater danger and i could redirect the shooter's attention and fire in my direction where i was the only target. then we see who is the better soldier and whether i was worth Uncle Sam's time and trouble.

No, its not. Her personal security detail would cut you down.

Pelosi security example.

No one can answer that for sure until they are put in the position.

SO many variables that ALL play into the scenario.

Not to sound cruel or cold, but two sentences stayed with me from CCW training:

"Would you be willing to go to prison for a LONG time for defending a complete stranger?"

"Imminent threat of death or serious bodily injury."

There's a lot to think about. I try to always evaluate my current environment as to how I might respond to an emergency situation - as others have mentioned, a continual inner mind game of "What If?" so I can hopefully have a controlled response and not have to react in the heat of the moment and come up with a solution in two seconds when the adrenaline is flowing freely and seconds count.

Do I have my kid with me or am I alone? If my kid is with me and there is a way out, I'm putting my kid first. If I am alone, I would like to think I would engage, I have been in Life death situations in the past and I chose to take on the threat rather than retreat, not bravery but I believe my self-preservation default is to fight back. But as I have said before, you never know till you are in the moment. But with a loved one and an option to escape safely, I would get my loved ones out to safety, Would I go back in? I don't know. If no way out, you bet your *** im going for it.

AK or AR against my compact handgun; I will likely not engage.

Depends.
1) If engaged with no room to maneuver go full tilt boogie on em.
2) If with love ones get them to safety and depending on if I was out gunned/manned go back and run interference so others may escape.
3) If alone and after assessing the situation I may more than likely ambush or engage depending on my/his/their load out.
