Default Help removing rear sight for 1943 Mosin Nagant?

Was wondering if anyone local was successful in removing the rear sight mount for the mosin.. Trying to install some weaver scope mounts on it and I'm having some trouble getting it off.. Let me know if you could help a brother out! Thanks

Can't you just take the sight pin out with a brass punch?

Haven't tried but will do so, I messed up and got the leaf pin out thinking it was one of the mount pins. Just got my scope in and going shooting on Monday so I'm kind of scrambling to get it on.. Haah

Do you want the whole housing or just the sight? I bought a scope mount that required the whole thing to come off. This one. I have about a hundred rounds through the gun with this mount, solid, does not get loose.

Thanks but I already have a mount and scope, just asking if someone can help me take off the rear sight mount so I can attach some weaver scope rings and throw a scope on it.

Brass punch and a rubber hammer. If that doesn't work maybe apply some heart and then try, should allow the metal to expand.

Sorry then brother. I hear on some of those pins are like welded or something of the like sometimes. That is what I heard, and not saying it as fact. Please no one call me a FUD

Best of luck to you

Worst case scenario you could cut the sight in half with a dremmel.
