I am thinking 9 X 19, 40 cal, 45 ACP, 556/223 & 308. I live in a bubble. Is there anything else that would break 250,000 rounds in the CALGUNs community. I have talked to SG and some others and they do not have the buying power to do what I am suggesting. I have no idea if a manufacturer or distributor would sell 10,000,000 rounds to us at a competitive price but if you look at the expense in distribution, sales, transportation and accounting they would save, my guess is yes. So if we do this like members in an LLC or shares in a corporation before we make our first purchase we would have $3,300,000 in the bank at .33 per round. That may be all the clout we need. Just thinking Ohh No we're doomed. It'll never work! BTW my plan is everyone that works at this gets paid for their efforts. I have not worked out all the details but this should be no commie endeavor. Stuart |

I for sure think that 9mm, 45acp, .223/5.56, and .22lr should be in the buy the most common rounds in my opinion. I know I would take 10-15k of just .22lr for my self and could get others I know to buy some. I think that the people that have truck and could or would be willing to help distribute should maybe get gas money and maybe just get the ammo at the cost the main buyer would be getting it at and then the people just buying should defiantly pay for example 5% more or something like that to help with any costs occurred. This buying scare seems to have calmed down and I think that if there was another scare we would for sure be in a better position to help out calgunners with getting out of the gouged prices.

maybe I'm confused. I see people talking about "moving" 10-20000 rnds.
Are you talking about getting a wholesale purchase so people can become basically underground resellers? Or is this a coop for our personal use?? I'm not interested in funding someone's business venture. Also sounds like a lot of legal issues if people are doing that. Last edited by ElDub1950; 04-02-2013 at 10:55 PM.. |

I can haul ammo back to Fresno and Central Valley. I have a F250 diesel 4x4 with trailer. I would be down for 10,000-100,000 rounds depending on price. I have friends Im sure locally I can get 1,000 OF 1k rounds cases sold. But if the cases are costing me $330.00 Ill sell them for $400.00. Im not into helping ANYONE out anymore, PERIOD. After what ive seen on here and recently how many people tried to screw me over. I must profit from the head ach. Plus I have a wholesale resale licence being Im a Licenced CA corperation.

If you're throwing down $3300 a quarter (10K rounds at .33), you can do with them as you please. Open a store and sell them. Shoot to your heart's content. Give them away. Pay it forward at cost. The power of the Co-Op is procurement in the sheer volume/number. Once you receive your stuff, it's yours to do with as you please. The Co-Op would have no hand in what any member would do with their stuff after delivery. I would imagine that a few people have the same thought I do; shoot half/store half, and sell the other half to a few pals here and there. It would probably pay for my half, rendering it a "free" source of ammo to me. Using these numbers for 10K a quarter at .33/rd, you're looking at $3300 every three months, or 1100 a month for 3,333 rounds/mo. If you sold half/1500 rounds a month to your buds at .50-.55 cents a round, you'd pay for your half, give your buddies ammo WAY below market prices, AND cut the price gougers off at the knees. Everybody is happy. Except the Vultures. Screw the Vultures. I 100% agree with your concerns. But, this is pretty much We The People standing up, banding together, whatever the motivation, and sticking our fingers in Big Sis's eye and the eyes of the Price Gougers. That alone is just about enough reason for me to participate. |

I'm in for the Inland Empire. My father in-law is an industrial building for receiving, but the lights don't stay on for free and the rent doesn't magically get paid is the problem with that. But if the deal was right he'd be in along with myself!

I don't see where in the supply chain people are vulnerable? Pick up from the shipper will not be disclosed to general public, and buyers will have a set list of dates and times to pick up ammo from the distributors. I think distribution should happen somewhere where the distributors can be locked and loaded, like at a gun range parking lot. I know the guys at metcalf pretty well, I'm sure they wouldn't mind.

Great idea in theory. I recently distributed 25K rounds of 9mm, so I have a little bit of experience with slightly larger than normal ammo shipments. Each case of 1K rounds weighed 32 pounds, so the 25K rounds weighed 800 pounds and took up space equivalent to a decent sized file cabinet.
There's a very large elephant in the room that could derail this plan, and that's liability. Any building owner/leasee will want to have that more than adequately addressed. Beyond just the inherent liability of having millions of rounds of live ammo being received and stored (let's not kid ourselves, qty of that scale does not get immediately distributed as soon as it's unloaded, so some qty of the order will sit for hours or potentially overnight), there's liability around any possible personal injuries (lifting many cases repetitively or dropping a case on your foot) as well as potential property damage to the storage facility and distribution vehicles. And let's not minimize the possibility of attempted theft, either. The wrong person hears that there's hundreds of thousands of dollars of ammo arriving in a warehouse in a potentially remote or less-trafficked location.......... For this to work, the co-op would need to have the capability of ordering and taking delivery of millions of rounds at a time. Storing and distributing that kind of scale in as short a timeframe as possible to minimize certain liability aspects mentioned above is no easy undertaking. Forklifts and manual labor have to be arranged for, and are there enough CGers available during the week if the shipment cannot come in on a Saturday? I'm sure there a couple of other aspects I'm missing that have to be addressed/accounted for........ |

You should find a friendly Gun Club or range to accept shipment of the ammo. Then the buyers could meet there and pick it up and pay for range time and do some shooting. This would work great at an outdoor range. I am in San Diego and would be interested. I have a truck too.
