I have done several PPTs there and added a lower from their inventory on my most recent PPT ($50 Andersons usually in stock!). I have dealt with four of five different staff members there and it has always been a pleasure. They are very easy to deal with and know what they are doing. Open 9AM - 10PM, 7 days a week - you won't find another gun store working that hard!

I have not shot there yet, but I understand they allow draw from holster for CCW holders and rapid fire. I do plan on making it a regular shooting stop to stay current with my CCW pistols. My club range at Lincoln does not allow double taps, draw from holster etc.

They also allow you to shoot your gun while it is in jail - which could really take the sting off the 10 day wait

This place deserves a shout out.

Great staff, friendly and helpful.

CCW, LEO or military training and they allow draw from a holster and rapid fire which is great to run drills.

Even have a frequent shooter punch card to earn a FREE range shot.

If you haven't been to The Gun Range stop by and check out.

Glad to see you guys on Calguns.

+1 for The Gun Range (not to be confused with THE GUN ROOM )

Friendly, knowledgeable staff with VERY competitive prices on guns and ammo.

Fast and friendly PPTs and they do low-cost internet transfers.

This is a very nice range, but I did have one problem. I went with two new shooters and when we got there there was only one line available. We were told we could "share the line" which was fine with us. So we took turns and had a good time, but then when we left we were all charged individual rates??? Even though we each only shot 1/3 of the time???
Don't get me wrong, the range is fine, and the guys that work there are nice enough to deal with, but something about charging us 3 times for one line just seemed uncool, so I decided to vote with my wallet. Fortuneatly Sac Gun Club opened up much closer to me, so all is well.

Didn't make much sense to me either when I first started going there. You've got to figure though, they are always packed. They're trying to get as many shooters in as possible and multiple shooters on the same line will also be there longer. So it boils down to either your group on one line and 2 shooters that would otherwise be sitting on the couch in the lobby get to shoot too or your group taking all 3 lines. When its not busy they have always let us shoot on our own line.

I go here about once a week. Great staff and they treat you well. You can draw from a holster if you are a CCW holder and that's been really good for my IDPA practice.

I get that, but $51 for 90 minutes of the 3 of us sharing one line seemed a little steep. Like I said, it's a fine range, that just kind of burned me a little. Besides Sac Gun Club is like 5x bigger and I can shoot all day every day with my membership, so it worked out for me.

Are you sure you are thinking of the right place? The Sacramento Gun Club in Rancho Cordova was giving away the free T-shirts since they just opened in November. This place (The Gun Range) is in Natomas, right off Hwy 80 with hookers around the corner.

that's been standard practice at every range i've ever been to.

on a positive side, i don't believe they have time limits so i think you can take your time.

Hands down the best indoor range in the area. Temperature controlled, great ventilation, great staff, excellent reloads for good prices, and some of the best prices around for the guns they stock. I recently got a Sig and a Smith & Wesson M&P15 Sport from them and they had the best prices of anywhere I could find. Even if they didn't, I would've bought from them anyways to support their business. The people who run this range/store really know how to pick their employees... they're all friendly, knowledgeable, respectful, and if they don't know something they will ask someone else or just tell you they don't know... Unlike most gun store employees who spread all kinds of FUD about guns/laws/etc. I have never once heard someone here give a customer incorrect advice about guns or California law, and that alone is saying something. Add the fact that they allow you to pick up EXACTLY 10 days after the DROS, let you shoot your new gun while it's in jail, and don't treat you like an inconvenience when you want to do a transfer or PPT, and IMO there's no reason to go anywhere else.

Keep up the great work guys! I'll be stopping by for some more IMR4895 later today!

Well, for SGC, if you're not a member, you're paying $17 per hour for the 25 yard lanes and $25 an hour for the 50 yard lanes. I think The Gun Range's $17 flat rate, per person, to shoot as long as you like, is reasonable. Nobody asked your group to leave after 90 minutes.

And SGC is hardly 5x bigger. 34 lanes is not 5x of 15 lanes. (15 lanes x 5 = 75 lanes.) If size is really a selling point, you should have joined Sac Valley instead. Over 100 lanes total, private ranges and pistol bays, 1000 yard rifle ranges, rimfire range, etc.

Anyways, this is really going off track. You like SCG, we get it. The fact that you bring them up in every single post lets us know how much you like them. And if we all wanted to join an exclusive club where we can punch paper with pistols every day, it would definitely be the place to join. With that said, to me, an indoor range is an indoor range. Going from one to another doesn't excite me. The Gun Range works just fine if I'm in that area of town and I need a place to shoot. They have decent ventilation and the staff seemed like they were pretty cool. I don't have "brand loyalty" and I don't identify myself by the gun I shoot or the range I go to. I stay aware of my surroundings and, once in a while, I even like to spot out new shooters and give them some guidance and pointers on safety and shooting...

I do like SGC because it is the best range FOR ME. This entire forum is just people posting THEIR OPINION. I believe I did write in my initial post that the range is fine, and the guys that were there were nice to deal with. I meant that. It is smaller and much more crowded, that's just a fact. If SGC did not exist, I would still shoot at the gun range. I was just a little annoyed at the price, but now that I know their policy, I would just be aware of it in the future. I would rate them a close second in indoor ranges in the area. If you only shoot 2-3 times a year, and only want to shoot in the mornings during the week when they are not as busy, then the gun range is a fine place.
SGC works better for MY PERSONAL NEEDS. I shoot several times a month, I have never had to wait for a space, I get member discounts, free guest passes, free gun cleaning, free classes, gunsmith with great rates on site, computer video simulation room that is super cool. I can rapid fire, shoot from a holster without being LE, and I can shoot my AR prone. Plus the other day I just walked in and did a CCW modification in about 15 minutes for $25 with no appointment. That is what I mean by customer service. All this makes it the best value for ME. But by all means, go wherever works best for YOU.

Oh...and I don't think I praise them in every single post? Have you really gone back and read every single post I have made? If so...that's a little creepy...
