Default Proper attire at an NRA dinner?

Is there such a thing?

Wife and I are going to our 1st one and aren't sure what to wear...

I assume nice jeans, shirt, and shoes will suffice, but I don't want to show up and be surprised (under-dressed).

Thanks in advance.

Real-Tree Cammo Suit....

Seriously, probably dress pants and a collared shirt (polo or button-up) with a belt and nice shoes. If you are a big contributor, probably a suit.

Seriously if you see pictures most of the people are wearing suits or Tuxedos
Kind of depends on what type of dinner it is a more formal or a BBQ.
I would check out what venue this is at and maybe call them and see if they know what the suggested attire for the evening is or check with the sponsor.

Which one are you going to? Dress depends a bit on the venue. Some are fancier than others. In general, a dress shirt / slacks will get you by.

Don't worry if your only going to something like a friends of the NRA event.
Wearing nice jeans and a polo, you'll fit in just fine.
There just looking to sell raffle tickets and make as much $ they can off of you. What you wear is not really important in my opinion and it's for a good cause. No one's going to ask you to put on a spare tie or leave.
Have fun. -g

^obama shirt, haha, I will have to do that next year, that would be pretty funny...

I wore dockers, nice shoes, and a collared shirt, and I was slightly over-dressed, most were in jeans and t-shirts, didn't see a single coat or tie. The dinner in our county was at the Elks Lodge, which is at the local airport.

Had a great time, perfectly cooked t-bone steak, good conversation around the dinner table, and the best part was winning a Henry AR-7 .22 survival rifle. Woo-hoo!

The one I attended was filled with "regulars" who were non-judgmental of new people [me]. I vote for being comfortable and neat since this is all about helping the gun community.

As was said in a previous comment by another Calgunner, it really depends on the venue. Mine was at a small Fairfield location. I wasn't about to wear a dress with heels since I was trying to seriously win a new 1911

Just bring $$$ for the bar -- and have fun!

Like others have said, it sort of depends on which one you go to. I go to the one in Dixon. Pretty much anything goes. Others may be a bit more dressy.

I typically wear nice jeans, nice shirt, nice shoes. No tie, no jacket. Some of the ladies do get a little gussied up...

A jacket of the dress/business type won't hurt if you want to be more formal.
And that over nice jeans or dress slacks.
Unless it's the $1,000, $5,000 and up dinner. Then your tux. If you don't have a tux, be sure to up your donation rather than buying one. And inform everyone at the dinner in a tux that you upped your donation, rather than buying a tux.

I would say a Smith and Wesson #442 or maybe a # 642.

and of course one without that built-in safety lock.

just joking.
just dress like you would if you and a bunch of your friends were getting together to have a nice dinner, no more, no less.
