What to expect......
1. Good Food.
2. Silent Auction.
3. Bar
4. Scantilly clad women selling tickets.
5. Live Auction
6. Scantilly clad women holding up items during auction.
7. Auction fro some African Safari. Seems cheap till you figure out airfare.

Overall, it's fun. I chose not to buy tickets this year. Just bid on live and silent auction items.

8. It's a fun but expensive night if you spend too much time at number 3.

The blue or gold ticket packs just have different tickets for guns on different tables. Take a look at the tables and the prices and then make a decision.

I took my Better Half to the one in Fairfield right after the Shot Show. We tried to win a 1911, but ended up with a new shotgun. Not bad -- now he can go pheasant hunting with our Lab

I especially liked the company -- not having to explain my attraction to firearms to others regardless of my gender

the main thing I like about the Friends of the NRA raffles is that there are decent oods on winning. They basically run them as 50/50 drawings. many of the games are in the area of spend $20 and get a 1in50 chance of winning a $500-700 gun. It isn't that they are selling 5000 tickets at $20 and you win a 10/22 if you are lucky.

I donate a lot of money in raffles and know that you aren't guaranteed to win anything, but it is nice to have decent oods of winning something.

I liked this particular write up: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...63&postcount=4 which seems to be talking about the Lemoore event. But I suspect it is close enough to most of them.

Quite a few of the Auctioned items come from the area business's and sponsors.
Each year I buy Crickett rifles, bricks of .22, hearing and eye protection, rifle case and present them as a 'kit' for the young shooters. I put the Calguns.net moniker on them as sponsors though I make the purchase with GunsR4.us funds.

Last year we gave away (I think it was) 27 rifles to the youngsters.

This year I am attempting to get a few of the Savage Rascals for the kit.

Definitely go to one of these. Just for the dinner and camaraderie, you might be surprised at who you'll see there.

Had a great time! Didn't win any guns, despite my healthy donations. It was worth it for a good cause though!!
