CGSSA 14 Event - North OC Shoot @ FT3 Tactical 3/25/14

Tuesday 3/25/14 @ 6:30pm-9pm is the next CGSSA OC Chapter shoot at FT3 Tactical in Stanton.
All are welcome, so bring a friend!

Pizza:
$5 donation gets you 1 slice of pizza. $10 donation gets you all you can eat pizza! All proceeds go to supporting our monthly shoot.

Safety - If you are acting unsafe you will be educated or asked to leave. Please case and uncase firearms in the shooting booth only and do not transfer uncased firearms between booths. Complete range rules: http://ft3tactical.com/range.html
Bring a Government ID! Driver’s license, passport, govt ID card, etc.
Age - No shooters under the age of 10 allowed. All shooters that are under 21 must be accompanied by a shooter over 21.
Ammo - If any part of the cartridge attracts a magnet, it is a no-go. No aluminum cased ammo. No Tracers. Staff will be inspecting your ammunition.
Pistols - No Rapid fire, no drawing from holster, and all pistols must be unloaded, locked open and pointed downrange when not in use.
Rifles - All rifles must be checked in at the front counter when you register. They will give you a chamber flag to use for the night. Please remember to give it back before you leave.
Shotguns- Only slugs that are purchased at FT3 may be used at the range. If you are caught trying to sneak in outside shotgun ammo, you will be asked to leave.
Brass- You can pick up your own brass. Just notify staff that you want to keep your brass and we will try to sweep it into a little pile for you.
Cost - $12 range fee and stay until closing at 9pm!

REMINDER: – FT3 has been gracious to allow us to use their facilities at a reduced cost. We will return the courtesy and we will leave the facility better than we found it. That means making sure trash is disposed of (even if it’s not yours) and accepting responsibility if you damage range equipment.



Calgunner in Training Program.

Where do I start? What are the safety rules? Which gun should I buy?
It is easy to forget how overwhelming the shooting sports can be to a beginner. CGSSA strives to make the sport welcoming, safe (and fun!) for new shooters. The Calgunner in Training Program provides an opportunity for new shooters to come to our CGSSA monthly shoot and attend an orientation seminar lead by certified firearms instructors, followed by hands-on learning in the shooting bay! We provide the instruction, firearm and ammo. (All included for free with your $12 range fee). Space limited to two students, NEW SHOOTERS ONLY!!)

All others at the monthly shoot are welcome to sit in on the classroom portion of CIT at no charge. Please arrive at 6:30pm. The class begins at 6:45pm. No late arrivals will be admitted into the class.

The CIT program is funded entirely by our monthly shoot through donations and our pizza dinners, so eat up! A special thanks to our instructors and Calguns staff who volunteer their time to make events like this so much fun!

RSVP is not required. Walk-ins are welcome and we usually can accommodate so invite your friends! If we reach capacity and you are more than 15 minutes late, your reservation may be given to someone who is present and waiting.

With it being a week away, me being new to CGN, and my brother flying down for spring break, you can put me down as a high maybe +1.

Since it looks like there's a lot of space left on the sign-up sheet, and it'll come down to the wire if he wants to go, treat us as a walk-in for the shoot.

We'll have to see if he wants to put range time in for the little time he's home.

If we do, I'll be bringing my new (yet really old) toy! '32 Mosin! (I have PPU 150 grain soft point ammo I'll be bringing. no surplus, no worries)

Haven't attended the monthly shoot, but it doesn't require a membership to attend.

Nothing special required, just come on out.

Fill out the range waivers at the counter and tell them you're with Calguns. They will inspect your firearms and ammo. Once you're done, head to the rec room on the right. There will be pizza and we will give you a name tag and assign you a lane.

We do an optional friendly marksmanship competition (poker or darts) and administer the self-guided NRA Winchester Marksmanship program.

It depends how many people show up but we usually have plenty of space. If we completely fill, there will be 3 per lane.

Question, the range fee states $12, is that per person, or does FT3's regular range fee for second shooter work? (2nd shooter, same lane $9)

$12 per person. We rent the whole bay (not individual lanes).

FYI for anyone wanting to use a bore sighting device (muzzle or breech version).

They enacted a new policy that if you are going to use a bore sighting device the RSO must supervise. Apparently they have had a few instances of people thinking the guns were unloaded and launching the muzzle type into the range (I was told one is still stuck in the ceiling).

I am going to say this was the Chuck E cheese meet; Pizza, games (darts), and a cake!! haha

I hope everyone that wanted to shoot the AR15 and M&P CORE got to. The range officer shot 4 mags through the M&P hehe (he was actually seeing if it was shooting left or it was just me)

Another great event guys!
We had a big turnout, celebrated a birthday and had lots of fun! Thanks as always to our dedicated volunteers who make events like this possible.

Our next shoot will be on Tuesday April 22th. Can't wait that long? We have the Riverside monthly shoot on 3/28, Steel Peak Environmental Cleanup on 3/29, South OC monthly shoot on 4/11 and Women on Target on 4/13.

Diamonddawg, we were wondering what happened to you! We were even keeping your bay open for you haha. Hope you're feeling better bud.
