Default Valmet "Finnish Lion" .22 target rifle...

I glommed a Valmet Finnish Lion at an auction a few weeks ago. Still waiting for the rifle to arrive, but here are a few auction pictures...

Thanks, CT.

It is missing the rear diopter sight, but I have several spares.

Right now I'm trying to locate the screw that locks the sights in place. A board member is helping out on the search.

I also have a Valmet M65 and a Finnish 28/76.

I have a couple of spare sights, will have to do some research to determine which will fit the M55.

When you get it, send us a picture of the 50m factory proof target (with the cartridge info). These have nicely made match barrels.

Good luck with the sights, the mount to the receiver of rear sights is the hard part. Saw a couple in UK and many years ago in Virginia . But didnt own one then. A complete rifle with sights unfired was for sale years ago in Phoenix area.

I think the milled slot is the same for most of the rifles, isn't it? Years ago I found a Finnish Valmet M65 that had no rear sight. Luckily it came with the set screw and amazingly, I was able to find a couple of Finnish rear sights on Ebay. Seller was in Sweden and thought the sights fit a Remington!

My new Valmet M55 arrived at my FFL and I got a chance to try one of my spare rear sights with the set screw from my M65...fit like a glove...and not OJ's glove
