Went to Los Padres a few weeks ago with some buddies for the first time. Place was COVERED in spent shotshells, and lots of shot up propane bottles, aerosol cans, soda/ beer cans, etc. Ridiculous. Next time we go, I'm bringing a rake and some garbage bags to clean up a bit.

Leads me to believe you dont normally clean up after you shoot.

This^, clean-up supplies should be on your list EVERY time you go to BLM...if you are one of the responsible ones that actually picks up their mess.

I brought a bag and packed out all of MY brass, along with the other guys' AND a fair amount left by others. Didn't leave anything we brought. This was my first time there and didn't know what to expect, never been to BLM land. But thanks for assuming I don't clean up after myself.

Rule of thumb whenever you go to any outdoor range like this bring 1 rake per person and some trash bags or buckets because most likely you are going to have a mess before hand. Myself and my Brother in law try to leave the Range Cleaner than it was when we get there. If you have a Pick up truck its even better. We all have to do our part so these free ranges dont get shut down

Very important words have been typed! Its only a matter of time that all BLM land will be no-go for shooting activities. Best we can do is keep them open for as long as possible. This means going above and beyond and putting in the effort to pack out trash left by others. It sucks, but shooting on private ranges sucks more.

billofrights - sorry if I came off like I was trying to give you a hard time, just looking to reinforce good habits. I have gathered over 35 volunteers over the course of two monthly events specifically to clean sites that are trashed. Hundreds of pounds were collected between them. Just saying (again) that racks, shovels and a means to transport junk should be as essential as the guns themselves.
