Arrow Tac/Prec Rifle Class II - - 01/19/08, 01/20/08, 02/01/08

The Prec / Tac Rifle class is confirmed for Jan 19 & 20, 2008 for the first and second days and Feb 1, 2008 for the third day.

To date the following parties have paid either their deposit or in full and are confirmed:

Pistolpete75
Wildcard
rksimple

hypertex
ar15barrel
cypress32
mevale

We have room for five more people for a full class. If you are interested in this class contact me ASAP and make arrangments regarding the deposit so your place can be reserved.

For those already reserved I will be emailing an equipment list and brief overveiw possibly as early as tonight. The weather looks like it will be good for next weekend so this should be a very enjoyable class. We will be checking zeroes at the beginning of the shooting portion of the class on Saturday (like last time) so if you have new equipment, load etc no worries.

If anyone has any questions PM or email me or come out to APS this weekend as I'll be there both Sat and Sunday.

Will ice cold refreshments and BBQ be served? Also, will there be benches? I don't want to get my bunny ears dirty on the ground

Ice cold refreshments might not be needed. Warm liquid refreshments may be more important. If we can make a little fire ring, I'll bring a dutch oven.

just talked to my dad, and looks like it's a go. only issue is that the group is locked. i can't allow any more people. there is a neighbor that complains about the noise, and my father put a limit on it for his political issues. class is locked for saturday classes, but sunday is open.

unless you guys want to blm it for the saturdays, then there is no limit.

So does that mean the class is cancelled for Saturday(s)?

Or is the existing group still on for Saturday unless more people are added and we have to BLM it?

If possible, maybe we should BLM the entire class to avoid any issues/ hassles or adverse action toward your dad.

saturday is still good at my dad's place but i can't bring no more guys than what is posted above. too much political drama at my dad's place. it's not about the liability. i'm not worried about that.

honestly, the blm idea would be better. but shooting at my dad's place is also good for saturday shooting.

I've had no other emails re this class so I see no issue with locking it to the ones that are already listed since they reserved the spots. I would like to have a saftey briefing at 0850 and start the class around 0900 but would like to meet with Pistolpete75, Wildcard, and rksimple around 0800 to 0815 to set up and go over the evelutions for the day.

works for me too.

cypress, my loads are not chroned too, and i'm actually going to use a load that i think will work well. it's just a guess. bring as much as ammo as you can. no worries.

just bring what you have, and you'll be fine. i would take whatever rifle you can shoot better with.

i don't think we will be shooting submoa targets.

Any details the location where we are shooting?
Directions on how to get there?
Elevation to work up range cards?

Is it within an hours drive of the LA basin?
Will a hotel really be necessary?

Its within an hour of Lancaster. It takes me about 1:45 to get to culver city. The elevation is from about 3400-3900 ft. Pete can give everyone directions.

So are most people staying in a motel, or commuting?
Anyone up for splitting some rooms?
Anyone have a couch I can crash on if you live up there?

You'd be welcome on mine...if I had one! They're pouring the slab today for the new house. I'm with the inlaws until its done.

If anyone has a travel trailer, you're welcome to bring it and stay on my lot. Its a couple acres so there will be plenty of room.

sorry change of plans. my father has political issues with his neighbor. he is afraid that his neighbor will complain of the noise, so i told him we wouldn't shoot there anymore. sorry but we have to blm it. sorry for the drama. i didn't mean this to happen.

I don't mind a location change.. assuming is fairly accessible without "off-road" vehicles. Do we have a piece up BLM land in mind?

I want lots of uphill/downhill.
Square ranges are boring.

We can use the BLM land where we went before. Its abit harder to setup targets, but we can manage. We'll just have to get there early to hike and setup targets in different areas.

Twolf-pm inbound.

I'm guessing the ranges would tack on a additional cost and wouldn't offer us the versatility we need. Plus then we would be limited to the hours of operation.. distraction from line breaks.. etc. BLM should work as drive time and terrain will be similar.

If I recall correctly.. Desert Marksman in Vegas is a private range requiring membership.

Make shure you shoot that ****ing thing like 100 yards away. Someone awhile back shot one without telling me, and I had no muff on right behind him. I couldnt hear or think for a couple hours.

There are many places out there where we can shoot. We were shooting uphill that last time. We can move up to where the target was and shoot down at many other places along the desert floor there. We can also turn around and shoot uphill, or down to the other side to get a different wind condition. We're going to need to get out there early, maybe the day before, and setup some targets. I have some radios we'll use and have one person up top at the shooting position, and a couple setting the targets. We can conceal them to some extent as well.

You can camp out there as well. Hold on, I have to go do a filling, I'll be right back.

However it needs to be done. Let me get some input from twolf on how he wants the targets and I may be able to go out there on friday and setup a few. There are a few camping spots with level ground close by. Temps should be in the low 40's overnight. The closest big town is 15 minutes away from this location. 5 or 10 minutes down the road is a little convenience store with most necessities.

There are many possibilities out there, I just need to know what everyone wants.
