Default Tavor SAR

Do you plan on making these available to CA in the near future?

We will not know anything about the CA conversions etc until we actually get a shipment of them in and check it out . If the conversion is reasonable we will offer them in the future .

Any chance of breaking it down and shipping the receiver to an FFL and the rest of the parts to another address?

Bob sorry we will not be breaking the guns down and shipping separate at this time . Once we actually have the rifles in hand we will start looking at the CA conversion deal and do not know the exact details at this time .

On the serious side of things we are a official distributor for IWI and will have guns but we are not going to take any pre orders . Is there a law that requires us to take pre orders ?? We do not want to take orders on a item that we have on order but do not know how may of each model will be shipped , so if we did take orders and could not fill all the orders then we would be the BAD GUYs and etc. We would rather have the exact shipping details before opening up orders . We can not offer guns to CA until we get them and figure out how to add a mag lock and lake them long enough .

Perfectly sound and reasonable position. Thanks for your reply and I hope you figure out how to configure it to CA soon.

Maybe it would be easier to go featureless, I think the rifle needs an extension to be cal legal anyway so maybe just leave the flash hider off and wrap something around the grip to stop you getting your thumb all the around the pistol grip.

You guys realize this won't happen. The rifle doesn't meet California's overall length requirements. There's no stock to pin open which only leaves you with the option of pinning and welding on a fake can which I think defeats the purpose.

Someone correct me if wrong, but I thought you only need to pin and weld if barrel is below 16". You should be able to just use an extended muzzle device to meet the OAL requirement.

According to Wiki, "The Canadian civilian version comes standard with the Mepro reflex sight and a slightly longer barrel to meet the Canadian requirement for non-restricted semi-automatic centerfire rifles to have a barrel length of at least 470 mm."

CA was the 9th largest economy in the world and has a larger GDP than Canada.
2011 CA GSP $ 1,958,904 MM
2011 Canada GDP $ 1,736,051 MM

Atlantic, can you convince IMI it's in their best financial interest to make a CA-length barrel, 510mm to be exact. OAL will be 30.3" for CA model.

Wrong. In California, OAL MUST be 30" in the firing position. If a stock folds it's only okay if they firearm is rendered inoperable. 16" IS the legal limit for barrels but we are talking about OAL of the rifle itself. Federal law is 26", California is 30". Unless you attach some sort of permanent extension on the barrel then i don't see this being Cali legal anytime soon.

Sorry but you are wrong. The extension to make OAL does not need to be permanent only 16" barrel lengths to meet NFA reqirements. You can hose clamp an AK folder to keep it from folding or add a removable extended muzzel device on a 16" barrel to allow the folder to be operable. Either way the modification does not need to be perminant and you can switch between them so long as the OAL is met.
