Default What’s your cc weapon of choice?

I’m currently in the process of applying for my ccw. As of right now I own a Springfield xd 9 and was planning on using it as my cc(if I was to be approved). I want to get an idea of what you guys use. I’m also a little tight on money right now but do plan to buy another handgun later on. So any recommendations are appreciated.

My weapon of choice is a 1911, but I carry a .380.

I use a shield in 9mm. I find the xd is hard for me to conceal and the shied is about the smallest I would go.

I applied with my XDs-9, still pending approval but that's what I will carry. A full-size XD would be somewhat difficult to conceal without worrying about it all the time.

The one easily carried S&J J-frame

If I was fully expecting a gun fight, would chose differently, of course.

But I don't

Got my CCW license only 9 months ago....I’m 61 years old now.

— 1st was a Shield 9mm, carried at 7+1
— 2nd was a PPS M2, carried at 7+1

Shield was fine and shot just as well, but preferred the PPS ergos and feel....so sold the Shield.

— Now, just bought a Glock 26....mainly for the 10+1 capacity. If I end up liking the carry feel of the G26, I’ll likely carry it full time. If it feels too bulky, I’ll likely save it for colder weather carry....and keep using the PPS.

During the summer, I carry either my S&W J-frame .38 or Sig P238 .380.

Winter months, I go with my Shield 40.

I'll be adding a Glock 29sf 10mm to my license within the next few weeks.

Government size 1911 on the weekends when I don't need to wear a suit or "business casual", Sig P238 otherwise.

Full size Beretta PX4 Storm 9mm 10+1. It's easier to conceal than you may think. And ridiculously reliable.

Its easier to conceal if u got the compact grip version but in winter clothing its not a big deal to hide a full size gun other than the weight. I mostly carry an xdm 3.8 comp and its not a problem with the right setup.

Depending on if I'm working, or riding, and what the weather is... Either my G19 or my G43. I have a 1911 on my permit but rarely carry it.

Choice of carry right now is a Sig p239 mostly in sig 357 but also have qualified with the same variant in 9mm and 40 caliber so its a simple slide swap for variety if I get bored

Other weapons on permit are a Glock 33 also in all three calibers listed above and a Dan Wesson Cob that I’m still running trial tests on to prove reliability (so far 700 rounds in a row with no failure....will probably start carrying after 1500 rounds with no failure)

G26 around town.
LCR .357 for camping/hiking.
G21 no idea, but I wanted a .45acp in the rotation.

I mostly carry a Ruger LC9. There is a lot of hate of that gun on the various forums, but it's small, light and very reliable. I have larger, better shooting guns on my permit, but rarely carry them. Being small and reliable, the Ruger just works for me.

Some very good choices mentioned above. Mine is a G27 (40 S&W). I like this gun as it runs like a banshee on crack. I would prefer to carry a 1911 but adore the reliability and simplicity of the Glock. This is not stated to create a debate. It is my opinion thank you.

I have G26, G42 and Walther pps M2 on permit. Carry the PPS most of the time, great ergos, thin, and easy to shoot. G42 when going super light. G26 feels like a brick compared to the other 2 but I still like to have options.

Ditto. But when I travel out of Kalifornia, it's a Ruger SR9c using my AZ. UT and VA permits.

The Shield and many other smaller guns in that category have 10+1 capabilities with simple magazine upgrades.

Since I'm retired my usual clothes are Jean's or shorts, tee shirt with a loose overshirt which covers my sig 220 nicely.

LCP in my pocket, all day, every day, but I usually have my 239 near by as well. I have a G43, but haven't gotten into carrying it yet...it goes in the same pocket as the LCP, but it doesn't disappear like it. G19, G29SF, P220 Carry are also options for me, but they rarely leave the house.

Yeah, but the grip gets long......even the 8 rounders are noticeable, to me.

Got the G26 to keep a short grip....need to evaluate if the sacrifice of thinness for bulk is worth 3 more rounds. Plus, I got another gun, LOL

My G26 is by far my most carried ccw.
My XDs is a distant 2nd. I thought it was going to be first due to the thinness, but nope the G26 won out.
My G19 almost never gets carried anymore 😕 It’ll sometimes serve as a backup in the car.

Of my three guns on my license, I carry two most of the time:
  1. Full-size Colt 1911 .45, carried in Condition 1 (when I can wear heavy/extra clothing)
  2. Glock 26 9mm, carried in Condition 0

Glock 19
1911

But if it was possible then my 1911 100% of the time.
