Well I guess this is as good of a place as any to make my first post. I got these in a trade awhile back and I'm not sure what to do with it. I look forward to reading all the good info that's out there for this rifle.

Looking at some of these rifles posted here I am tempted to sell the Kimber so I can buy a good stock for the SOCOM. I haven't fired the rifle yet, but hopefully soon.

Don't do it! Keep the Kimber, the stock you have is just fine. No need to go messing with a good thing. Just go shoot it and enjoy.

Polytech M14/S (haven't fired it yet) The wood is from a 1990 M1A that I gave my son. I kept the wood - he got a GI fiberglass set in exchange.

Socom 16, Springfield stock, aimpoint h-1, ultimak rail, SEI bolt release, and sadlak mag release. Ultimak allows cowitness with the irons.

Very fun rifle to shoot!

Awesome M1A's everyone. It's my favorite rifle of all time. It's ashame though that I did not see one pic of an M1A sporting the old school M2 bipod which I much prefer. Saw alot of Harris bipods which I also do love. Just like the GI look of the M2.

the one that connects to the gas cylinder and puts inconsistent upward pressure on the entire system every time it is fired?

What's wrong with the M2 bipods? If they weren't any good, why does the military use them? Just wondering...

Personally on the M1A, I prefer shooting it without any pods, I just use sandbags or a range bag as support. I do use the sling to shoot it and it works great.

Be careful not to confuse What the Military uses and "good." Every now and then they line up, but most of the time they are not even close. Now I don't have any experience with this particular bipod, just the military part, so don't take this the wrong way.

I use the factory M2 bipod from Springfield Armory on my Scout, and it works great. Fit is perfect on the gas tube. Only thing I wish was that it's shorter like my Harris 6-9". Even at minimum height sometimes it feels too tall, but only on the bench. But from a prone position in which I think it was truly meant for, I prefer it over the Harris. But I do shoot from a bench more than I do prone. For the price of the M2 versus a Harris along with the adapter mount, the M2 is so much cheaper. I used the SA Loaded coupon that the M1A came with and got discounted price on anything for the M1A.

Hey BWOLCOTT -Doesn't that foregrip make that an assault rifle? Unless that pic is taken out-of-state or the mag is fixed, you may be incriminating yourself!

This thread is not good for my current obsession with the M1A. Lots of great pictures!
