Default Garand pic thread!

Lets see if we cant get a nice picture thread going for m1 garands! The more and more I toy with my M1 garand I realize that it IS the ONE rifle for me. Or THE one rifle I would grab for bugging out to the ranch. I have Long range rigs,AK's,AR's,Shotguns and pistols. Some handle better have more tacticool stuff on em but when it comes down to it the M1 garand for me is THE battle rifle IMO. I have a connection with my M1 garand that I have with VERY few of my guns. It may not be the best or the nicest collectors grade but it is mine. Mine is a SA receiver imported from blu sky, I guess I got lucky and got one of the ones blu sky didn't ruin mine out shoots my buddies NM garand. I find it quite odd but hey if it works don't fix it. I'll try and get pics up here soon but post away fellas!

Default AFPG Garand

This is a good example (there are others better) of an AFPG Garand. For lack of a NM stamp between the gas cyl rings, this rifle otherwise meets CMP NM Type 1, Service Grade criteria. It's not JCG match legal. Hopefully soon, I'll be able to see what it'll do with proper match ammo vs. M2 ball...

All the parts of my rifle are either SA or HRA. The op-rod, gas plug, and trigger group are all HRA. There is no mixing there. Everything else is SA, and appears to be well fitted. I have no doubt that this rifle was built originally as a competition rifle. The stock is glass bedded and fits the receiver quite well. If I could eventually find it's exact history, I'd be completely stoked!

My blu sky garand has a NM stamped on the bolt if thats of any significance. I think it might be stamped a few other places too. Nice rifle!

Actually just stamped on the bolt as far as I can tell but like I said took it shooting with my buddies NM garand and it smoked it. My buddy thought it was odd so we put both rifles in a vice to make sure it wasn't just him being a crappy shot and it out shot it all day. He says he still kicks him self in the A** because he had the opportunity to get my rifle before I got it "from my ladies father she got it for me last christmas " .

+ 1 on the Garands. I totally love mine. Here are my SG SA CMP rifles just shipped to me in January. I'm planning on getting a couple more...

Thanks, Chriso. I love them and going to order more!

Yes indeed, a man's rifle. Now, if only CMp would release some of that Greek ammo....

See my slide show: http://www.flickr.com/photos/4683174...th/4294900248/

I agree they are the coolest battle rifles ever invented, and even by today's standards a good SHTF rifle if need be.

Thinking of picking up a Garand real soon. How are the Fulton ones? I'd like to pick up a new or refinished to like new rifle. I don't meet all the CMP requirements to get one from CMP.

The Garand is one of those special guns. I find it to be very ergomonic. There's no magazine jutting out or space age sights. It has wood nearly to the muzzel. The irons are far more capable than me. You get eight rounds or semi auto 30 06! If you need more, you are waisting ammo. A fine weapon indeed!

I think there is potential in revisiting the en bloc clips. They are disposable and if put in modern arms chambered in 5.56 you could get clips of 15 rouns or more.
