That makes sense, but my question was whether or not a scanned/reduced/laminated copy would ALSO suffice, or if it needed to be the original.

Additionally, could you please cite the penal code that says one must carry the permit? I could not find this in PC 12050. Any help would be appreciated.

It would be foolhardy to not have at least SOME proof of permission to carry concealed. The original intent of my question was related to carrying a "copy" of a smaller size that would fit in a typical wallet that accommodates "credit card-sized" items, which Sac county's is not.

Did my final paperwork today. All done in about 10 minutes.

The deputy said 10 days to two weeks for it to arrive in the mail.

Thanks CGN and CGF.

I'll put some funds together and make a couple of donations.

Picked up my permit this morning from the post office.

I trimmed the edges a bit, and it fits perfectly in my wallet. Keep in mind this is a slim wallet made for only a few cards, ID and some cash.

I use this wallet from eBags.com: http://www.ebags.com/product/dopp/re...uctid=10109341

I'm guessing they mail them out in batches over a two or three day period, plus there are variations in delivery quality between different post offices. As Master Yoda said:

I believe a 3+ month wait for something that takes a grand total of less than 30 minutes worth of work is more than sufficient

Easy to say when your permit is in hand.

My thoughts as well. I emailed Amber this morning to ask her if she could find out if all of the rest of ours from the 18th have been mailed. No response as of yet.

Assuming the stats at SacBee.com are accurate we have to be approaching/passing 500 permits issued in the county by now. Should be over a grand by EOY.

Went after work to the post office to pick up my certified mail and yes it was my permit. Had to change from a money clip back to a bifold wallet for the laminated permit. Well worth it

Money clip?! You have enough money to put in a money clip?! Must be nice. I tried a money clip one time, but the dimes kept slipping out.........

Congrats on your recent addition!

You guys with the recently acquired permits ( final paperwork on jan 18th), have your $80.00 checks been cashed?

They have not cashed my $80 check either. Plenty of $ in there, so that wouldn't be a problem. Even the first check of $20 took like 3 weeks to cash.

Well, they haven't cashed mine yet, but I've got my CCW, and that's a good thing 'cause there ain't no more money in that account!! I guess I saved $80 on my CCW!!

No, not really. My check has not been cashed, but like any large organization they probably pool all their checks from various sources and deposit them irregularly, or maybe regularly every week or two or whatever. I'm not sure whether checks being cashed tells us anything about our applications or not. Am I missing something? Probably.

Amber deposits the $80.00 checks once per month. It took over a month for mine to clear the bank.

I'm sure he was thinking that our checks werent cashed and that's why we haven't received our permits yet, but some of the others from the 18th had.

Just got an email back from Amber. She says that ALL of our permits were mailed out on the 21st. I don't have a clue how it could possibly take the post office 7+ days to deliver a package right across town

Our permits were probably sent to a east coast proccessing center, to be sorted and shipped back to our addresses.

"Processing on our end can take a few days. It doesn’t go straight from here out.. It goes to a mailing facility then out via usps.. So it’s not unheard of for it to take a while. Please be patient.. I haven’t had one get lost yet.."

I made my appointment for my application drop off. I can't believe that it is out until mid June! That's a pretty long wait. Looks like the entire process could take 8+ months...

Ya the word that Sac County is actually issuing is spreading like wildfire. Every time I hit a local gun shop they're all spreading the word to every customer that comes in. Amber and her team are doing what they can to streamline the process and get more help, but I'm sure that's not too easy with budget cuts etc.

What I find really strange is that the postage on my permit envelope says it was mailed on the 24th of January. Why would it take from the 24th to the 31st to travel across Sacramento?

Why bother to find out? You have already the permit. (Everybody has a busy days in life. Office workers, mail worker/sorter, mailman etc.)That is the important thing. That's the result of having patience. Your days of frustration is over. Be glad and satisfy.
