^^ the “bottles” look like speedloaders for the revolver.

Just another tip, I like to spray pick n pluck foam with a rubber undercoating like spray when I am done cutting it out. Helps keep the foam perforations together and protect the foam from soaking up oil.

Man, you guys are over achievers. I usually just put my handguns in their original plastic cases (Glocks) and place them into my Cabela's range bag with my ear pro, gun wipes and a box, or two, of ammo. Nice job on those cases.

Im gonna get more of these for storing items like magazines, tools, etc, very good and sturdy for the price can't complain... have 3 of the smalls for 2 of my pistols and in case i get a nother.... a medium holding ammo and some stuff as a range case last time i went worked way better than my old crummy bags or undersize ammo cans

just to note, the 3800 sized harbor freight case is the exact size as the 1450 pelican case.... they are built pretty similarly, but the pelican does have an auto vent, where you have to manually vent the hf with the knob

For the difference in price, I can do the venting....lol....

Went and got mine. I went with the bigger one and after the coupon it was only $4 bucks more, total of $34.63 WOW no brainer. Now I need to figure out how to lay out my guns and clips and put them in. Wonder what’s the best way to lay it out? I only have 2 hand gums but will be getting more for sure that’s why I went with the bigger one. Any ideas? Thanks again fellas for all the intel. Safe shooting....... Just pluck a block or two to practice. Once you get used to it, you will learn how not to damage the perforations for the blocks you don’t want to touch. The plasti-dip really helps make the cuts more sharp and preserves the other blocks ripping from normal use.

Would love to see more pics of how you set up your cases. I'm sure you guys are more creative than me
I'm am picking up my third pistol on Saturday and will be plucking my second case soon. I plan to lay the new Glock 17 od flat, and one free vertical space for whatever I want to bring to the range. Hopefully, I will have room for both the uplula and muffs. Last edited by ducatiti; 05-17-2018 at 10:53 AM.. |

what is best ? putting the guns on their side in a indentation ? or making slots and putting the guns in ?
For my longer barrelled revolvers, I think i don't have a choice and I have to put them on their side, 2 per box since I assume (not tried it yet) that i wont have the room to close the lid if I do it any other way. I bought 3 of these cases a week ago, I was out of town during the big SB fire in December, my daughter was told to evacuate but had no way to take all the firearms because i never take more than 2 or 3 to the range so I only had a way to carry 3 in a lockable case. Told her to take the Old Army and the Shotgun, leave the rest, she took my SIG also. Trying to figure out best way to fit everything. I made up some paper tracings of the various guns but you guys have been doing this longer than me, you must have some ideas. |

I got this maybe 12 years ago more or less. An MTM Sportsman's Utility Case. Probably $19.99 at the time. MTM still makes them and they are about the same price, maybe $10. bucks more depending on where you get them.
Strong, durable and handy. Foam can be had to customize as you want. Useful for many things. The top bin is 10 1/4" deep by 19" wide. Things up there do not slide around as the foam in the lid retains them. The top bin can be adjusted higher, as below. Or Lower. The bottom is for storage of what ever you want. In my case range tools. tipoc |

Just a heads up. The foam in these cases is when cut is open cell foam. This means that it is basically an abrasive foam. Same type of setup used to polish things. Think Mr Clean magic eraser.
I think it was just 1-2 range trips before I started to see strange wear on my CZ 75's and 97 safety levers. It was that darn foam wearing on the finish. If you do not mind wear marks then you can ignore this. I still use these same cases, but I wrap my pistols in a soft cloth before putting them in. Keeps the foam from wearing on the finish. |
