Thumbs up SFGate: "Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals plans audio streaming"

Anyone who wants to listen to one of the far-flung hearings of the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals can now do so on live audio stream.

The court said Thursday it will offer online audio access to all of its proceedings starting with hearings next week in Pasadena, the first time a federal appeals court has provided that service.

A few weeks ago they also announced live video streams for all en banc hearings, and certain high-profile cases when applicable.

Thx, I've edited emphasis in the OP quote to show EVERY proceeding will now be live streamed.

That's good although CA9 was already pretty good in that they would always have orals up on their website later on in the afternoon same day. Other circuits, IIRC, you'd be waiting days for oral arguments.

I should have mentioned I heard Judge Kozinski briefly interviewed by a reporter on that day and he said one of the reasons for this change is that the 9th is dealing w/a lot of controversial issues that the public passionately cares about and mentioned gay marriage as an example.

I wonder if he also had in mind our 2nd A RKBA?
