It is strange how they're handling the scheduling. I first called in at 8ish and booked two slots at end of August but was able to call back just now and booked both for end of July. Woke up early for nuthin'!

Got a bunch of busy signals. If you get through, it will be silent for 20 seconds before the phone tree (don't hang up).

1-2-1

Got a bunch of busy signals again and had to do the whole thing again.
Finally got a ring tone but it was a couple minutes before someone picked up and it was easy from there. good luck.

I called right at 8am and got through to the ringing. It rang for 7 minutes then hung up on me. I called a few more times and got busy signals. This happened TWICE (got through, rings for a while then get hung up on, followed by a bunch of busy signals). At 8:30 I got through again and spoke with Monique to get my appt.

Did they tell you that? That would be a Good Thing. When I called, they said not to bring anything except photo ID. I had already decided eft that, I'm bringing EVERYTHING. Why would;d I want them to just make another appointment, possibly more months down the road? It makes sense for all involved to just get the ball rolling up-front.

I was told to bring everything as well along with unsigned and undated application.

Any of you recording the phone call? (is that even legal?). Sounds like people are being told different things in regards to what they should bring with them.

Just to clarify a little - they told me that the proofs of residency must be monthly bills that have YOUR name and address on them, and must be dated within 30 days of the appointment.

I got August 11, started calling at 8 and then listened to the phone ring before getting hung up on after 40 minutes. Finally got thru at 9:05. yay.

I think that they are already adjusting appointment dates... used to be 4 a day, now hourly... they will have to change the system.

Good luck calling in! Option 1, 2, 1...

I have had:
- Silence, <click>
- Entry into phone menu... finally busy signal many times
- Entry into menu... infinite ringing...

After wasting 10 minutes of ringing at 8am, I just hung up and retried. For the initial appt and reschedule, I just hung up and redialed if nobody picked up after 2 minutes. Got through much quicker compared to the uncertainty of infinite dead end ringing.

Default Broke through!

After ~10 minutes of ringing, I spoke with a lady named Marissa (nice voice...) and got an appointment for Sep 4 @10AM.

To bring:
- ID
- Two proofs of residency (Credit card statement, cable bill...)
- Filled out application
- $105.63 for SDSD (San Diego Sheriff's Department)

Can use a debit card, will be charged $2.50 extra.

I'll be sure to dress a bit better than normal, wear a bit of cologne, polish my shoes (But possibly I'll end up talking to Bubba instead of some little cutie.)

Are we required to put down moving violations where we attended traffic school or only violations that "count" as points on our driving records?

My apologies, You both are correct and I forgot to include those details. It's been a while since I've been in school so my note taking skills suck. Thanks!

Finally got through and spoke with Marissa. Sept 15 for me.

Oddly enough I had two lines ringing and the one ringing for less than 5 minutes was picked up before the one ringing for over 20 minutes.

I don't think their phone system allows them to take calls in the order that they come in - looks like hit or miss.

I got off the phone with Marissa ~10:20... Sept 15 3pm. It does seem hit or miss for getting through.

Someone was asking about tracking down previous tickets. If you go on the DMV website, they provide a service that gives you your driving record for $2. I think it only goes back five years.

I will continue trying!

You can get your record at the CA DMV site for two dollars.
Just have to create an account. I assume it would have other states tickets.
My traffic school dismissed ticket didn't show up in the report.
I will write it down anyways.

I wouldn't necessarily trust the $2 DMV check. I just pulled mine and it says the last time it was updated was 8/11/2011, and it's missing a red light ticket that's currently on my insurance. If you're in doubt about anything in the past 5 years, better to be safe and put it down rather than get flat out denied for lying on your application.

Mid-Sept. appt. for me.

It appears violations taken with traffic school do not appear on the report. I am going to request an official copy from the DMV this week to see if they differ.
