Default 80% Lower - any place that will complete & Serialize it?

I have a spare lower.

I want to complete it, but have it serialized and registered. I am doing this to take it to the range(future proofing), as my unmarked lowers are at the bottom of the ocean after a series of small localized boating accidents.

Does any shop with an 07 FFL offer this service(in San Diego), and will it be any cheaper than purchasing and drosing a new lower at a local gun store ? (considering I already have ~$65 into the 80% blank).

I was told to give JD Machine a call, but I don't know if they would take on a request like this for one single part.

Thank You if you take the time to reply back with any relevant information.

Any place will put parts on it, but any milling, you have to do.

A 07 FFL would be able to complete the lower and engrave it.

Thank you for the fast response- After a quick Google, it looks like Audiophil is in AZ and has a long list of work in progress during reduced summer hours.

I may give Baboosh/2aZone a call, not sure about driving to LA twice to dros a lower but I will explore it.

Any other recommendations are appreciated if anyone else has one. Happy to support a local business.

It would prolly cost you more to have someone do that then it would be to just buy a finished receiver.

It's also likely since they would be delivering you a finished receiver they would also have to DROS is back to you with all the associated fees and wait period, etc. Because its not like a gunsmith returning a complete gun to you that you already owned. You have them a chunk of metal, and they delivered back to you what by federal and state law is now a firearm.

Thats what I was figuring on- $25 for dros and $XX for labor best case scenario. But I haven't seen a finished lower for less than $75, and I'd pay dros on that anyway- Just hoping to use what I already have in hand while navigating the twisted path that is our current laws.

Best option might be to sell the 80 and use the money to buy a stripped lower. Not sure where you are located but here in sac you can still find some for >50

Its hard for me to imagine there not being a minimum charge for machine time of $100 or more easily. And even if the price came out equal to a finished receiver there is still coating of some kind that needs to be done as well. Unless you're wanting to someone unique with it, it just doesn't seem like it's worth the hassle to me.

why not just offload your 80% to someone who wants one and buy a new 100% lower? I've seen them for $50-100 at LGS's.
