In my experience anodizing isnt generally something thats done while you wait as most places have a minimum number of parts to be anodized before they will even do it.

I work with anodizing companies constantly. They don't normally offer that kind of service unless you pay a premium and possibly if they are doing the same type of ano already. I normally wait 1 week for lead time. Good luck

It takes time to set the dies in the tanks. Then a run is done. Most local shops will schedule a certain number before doing a run.

A to Z Metal Finishing, in Mira Mesa is the way to go. Call them. They will tell you when their next run is scheduled. Then go in, and give them your aluminum pieces. They will run it while you wait, but you may need to wait a few hours.

Would an oven cure coating be an option? Can do those at home- though it is recommended to avoid using the kitchen oven...especially if the Mrs. is around.

If you go cerakote, check out San Diego gun graphics.

i think he's concerned with frame durability...i think that's why he's looking for anodizing as opposed to cerakote. is that a reasonable concern?

What is it the frame for? (damn, that looks weird)

Anodizing is just coloring the metal and toughening the surface to a degree , the other coatings coat the metal.

Durability? I would go with Cerakote but I have plenty of anodized parts that haven't suffered any damage over the years.

That is not going to happen in san diego, the ATF has been shutting down places that do not have an FFL, no one will touch it if it is a "firearm" or completed lower unless they want to lose their livelihood.

If it's just a piece of metal, A to Z will do it.
