Default Precision rifle, what do you prime with?

I've always used a hand primer tool, but am only recently starting precision rifle. What is everyone using to prime? Dedicated tool, press mounted?

Edit, i presently use an old style lee with the never primer tray, a bastardized combo thar seems to work well.

Also, does anyone use a prep center? Which ones are the best? I did a search and came up with a bunch for sale.

I hand prime my precision rounds with an old style Lee hand press. The newer one just flat out sucks!
If you doing brass prep for 200 plus cases at a time the prep center will save your hands and time as everything is right there. If your doing a test batch it’s quicker to just do it by hand.

I use a M2 Precision primer seater. It seats to a very consistent seating depth however, it is only made for 50 BMG based cases. I'm sure there's someone else making something similar for little cases.

RCBS hand priming tool works well.

If it works well and seats the primer consistently then its all good.

Old style (larger round pan) RSBS hand primer.

For my .223 and .308, I'll usually prime with a Sinclair hand priming tool - https://www.sinclairintl.com/reloadi...prod37732.aspx

For my .300wm, I'll prime with my Forster Co-Ax - https://www.sinclairintl.com/reloadi...prod38303.aspx

I use a 21st century hand tool and honestly find it hard to use anything else now. You can definitely do faster, but I don't think you can do better, and for precision rifle, better is what I'm after, anyway.

K&M hand priming tool. About half the cost of the 21st Century or Sinclair. Adjustable for seating depth and it uses inexpensive Lee priming shell holders.

I use it for all of my precision loads. I've used it for several years now.

The worst thing about the Lee is it needs different shell holder for priming and loading. The RCBS uses the same shell holder

Yep, I use the same K&M hand priming tool myself for probably 25+ years. Love the quick head depth adjustment and its all made of steel.

I'm using the CPS Lite http://www.primalrights.com/store/in...product_id=136

Easier to use than hand primers, faster than anything I've ever seen ran, dead nuts accurate. The dead stop on the die body/ram makes sure my primers get seated to the same depth every time. None of the "feel" it stop.

The CPS lite is out of stock and He's not sure of making another run of them. The full CPS is even better being a bench mount unit, with .001" units of adjustment, but its price is not for everyone. But if your looking for a priming unit built to last your lifetime, its worth it.

I bought a Lee Ram Prime to prime some really tough Lapua 7mm-08 cases that the hand prime just wouldn’t do. I use it for all my precision rounds now. Seating is effortlessly 100% consistent. Certainly not the fastest, but it is crazy consistent.

Wow, I like it. It works on the same principle as my M2 Precision primer seater but, it also has a primer feeding system. I'll have to call him and try to talk him into making more of the CPS Lites.

Default Precision rifle, what do you prime with?

I have and still use the old RCBS hand primer. On set for each, large and small primer.

On a whim I got one of the new Franklin Arsenal hand priming tools.

It’s far and a way better than the RCBS. It’s my new favourite.

I’m not a fan of Franklin stuff. But this thing is nice.

I’m also using the Lee hand priming tool. I find that it’s easy and gives me a chance to check primers for proper seating before moving on to the next step.

Maybe I'm the odd duck here, but I use a lee loadmaster to deprime and prime for precision rifle.

I just spoke with him and he has no timeline and no waiting list for the CPS Lite units.

RCBS hand primer. I primer most my brass on there.

It allows me to inspect before loading.

LRP on the press. SRP with the lee hand tool. Much prefer to do it on the press but can't find my small primer insert and haven't gotten around to buying one. Haven't found a reason to prime off press yet.
