870 folder and stock suggestions.
Hey everybody, looking to upgrade my 870 tactical to a folding stock. Not biased on top or side folding so long as it doesn't eat my shoulder and is reliable. Astheics are whatever, more for tactical purposes. Another thought is the gen 3 knox recoil stock, I've heard bad about both the first and second generations and am curious if anyone has experience with the 3rd. Thanks for all responses.

Back in the day, I used a Butler Creek folding stock on my 870 Police. I don't remember much, but that it was reliable (folded or deployed easily without issues).

There's a thread in the shotgun section on page one now...same question.
I picked up a used Remington factory folder for $100 on arfcom and mounted it to an 870 PM ex-Utah HP shotgun. Basic recoil pads are available on arf in the shotgun accessories FS section. As far as "they beat the dog **** out of you" I'd disagree, assuming you know how to mount the gun correctly. That said and as I posted over there, are you planning on using the gun for defensive purposes, or thinking of shooting skeet all day?

I used one in the Military, and I use to own one also. Didn't bother me at all, no recoil pad, just straight metal stock. It is heavy though, I mean heavy.
The only thing I would say is have a proper, tight cheeck weld to avoid the stock recoiling into your face. You will only do that one time, lol. |
