uncle Ted is nuts.

There is sound reason why many countries mandate a minimum of .375 caliber to hunt Plains game of this sort.

An Inuit woman killed a polar bear with a 22lr.

So what.

PS, If I wanted to get foolish hunting bear, I would be far better off using my .454

I already have 3 .357s, and one is an 8 rounder. Pretty sure that will stack up against 10mm all day long.

But I have sense, and use a rifle (In particular, a .375 H&H) for the gemmsbock and Kudu I took a few years ago).

Using a 10mm is just silly - further, I am quite sure, ol' Ted was backed by actual long guns of an appropriate caliber.

Wise choice. See, guys, he's not going to start off by blowing his cash on something he won't use, and weak or unsupported platforms. Next up...

I saw them, and you can have one in your hands with a sparrow suppressor for about $750 plus the stamp and wait (about 4 months) Good call, totally changed my mind on how many 22s is too many.
Easy answer.
Just one more haha!

I saw the PTR one, and they have it on a good deal for $1699 with brace and 2 mags, but I really wanted a B&T, so, since the new Grasshopper Mouse is out now. I got that. It was cheaper as well !!!

B&T has been making hardware for H&K for years, and they are very high quality machining. I thought it is lighter than any other 9mm PCC/Pistol, it costs less than even the Sig MCX or about the same, and the PTR, while probably one of the best MP5 Clones in a long time, it just isn't quite as ... Well, I guess, that is a a matter of taste.

But I always thought that I would choke out $4k or more for a B&T of some sort, but when they came out with the GHM, and I saw it's price, well. It was a done deal.

I walked into the local shop, asked him if he could make me a deal that would match the innerwebs prices as I prefer local and brick and mortar. He said he could do what you see, to my hands.

Well, that is $100 better, and about a week faster than anywhere else.

The shop was maybe a 500 ft/sq showroom, and it had at least a thousand firearms on display. It was pretty nuts actually!
Going to get my passport photos and fingerprints tomorrow and ordering suppressors for my UMP, and for this little diddy.

So much for the budget.

Thanks guys ???

Grasshopper Pron!

no tax, but, in a sick twist of irony, I do have to wait.

Until tomorrow when it arrives! haha! Background checks are instant, though you go into a cue when they send your info. Takes 10-30 min.

Lovin' OryGun !!!

I thought it would be a headache, but two shops I talked to say they handle it for you.

It takes

3 passport size photos,

2 Legal Fingerprint cards done by LE agency etc.

the forms,

200 frogskins.

And then wait about 4 months I am told.

Getting one for the 9mm pistol above tomorrow, the UMP will be next, and maybe another for my 1911 ... we will see.

thinking the 300blk may be the way, but I expect the UMP in 45acp suppressed and running heavy lead (250gr or so) will be much the same.

Yeah, I thought a bit about these posts, and some might take it as rubbing it in, but, really it isn't meant at all that way.

I just want people to have a good idea of how it really is, with a bug in the ear.

I am big on the whole vote with your wallet idea, and a huge part of why I left CA in the middle of my career, is that place doesn't deserve my taxes or contribution to the state, particularly if they do one as they do.

even where I am in OR is comical, and I won't stay here. The news is ridiculous.

They are increasing business taxes in portland for all businesses in the municipality, solely to construct a homeless shelter.
Further, they are covering "the plight of the homeless" on KOIN news (portland local - my local in Newport).
Apparently, homeless just post up downtown in front of financial district or whatever, set up tents and all else.

Get this,

The cops can't make them leave unless it has been assessed, by a separate entity, and deemed to be a health hazard.

Then the cops can act, but not to kick them out. Only to give a 72 hour notice to clean up the violations or leave.

sucks frankly.

I hate that the idiot legislators are spending our money to facilitate this crap.

I heard none of this crap in Idaho the entire time I was there.

BTW, they came to San Diego to see how well they do the homeless down there.
SMH.

I went to Salem, about 80 miles away to deal with my professional licensing, and didn't see a 4 lane road the entire time.
Streams, rivers, twisty roads, and conifer.
It was great.

I hear it is sunny in San Diego.

I don't care.

One of the hazards of moving to a free state is the cost of all the stuff that is legal. Especially NFA stuff; the tax stamps can add up quickly. An SBR'd pistol caliber carbine with a suppressor isn't cheap and full auto guns cost as much as a car.

What's the cheapest way into Class III weapons? Like a Sten or something?

The class III Collector’s club here recommends getting into a MAC platform. Apparently they are still available for 7-8k$ and there are more and more accessories being made for them. That was the advise given to me by the group. My dad had one when I was kid in the late 70’s growing up in the Midwest. It was a cool and super fun subgun. Not sure if I’m gonna pull the trigger on one or not.

There is such a subforum of Class III stuff on Calguns? Or guys who have their own thread? Never know what you can find here...

There is a GB auction on an M16 transferable auto sear right now. Up to $30K:
https://www.gunbroker.com/item/768316862

The 9mm Colt AR comes with it, lol.

^^^

For me, unfortunately, I don't have a FA wallet, of any sort really.

Nor do I really want to jump through all the hoops interstate travel brings with the same.

Sounds fun though.

The wait for your suppressor will likely be closer to 7 or 8 months. I just picked up my latest one (attached) about a month ago and the wait was 9 months, the one prior to that was 7 months. I hate waiting but the wait was worth it

Congrats. Did you send in a Form 4 as individual or a trust? E-file or paper?

I'm going on 3 months since "the check was cashed". Should've done it much earlier.

Thanks. I e-filed as an individual through a Silencerco kiosk. I bought the suppressors 3 weeks apart but the second one took 2 months longer for some reason.

When you get to Lewiston talk to Jay at Weaponsmart. He has a huge inventory including a Silencerco kiosk. It takes your pics and everything right there. It’s awesome

will do, thanks!
Never even heard about the kiosks until now.
I ordered this one for the B&T already, but have plans to get one for my UMP45 and a 300blk (if it won't be redundant to the UMP, kind of thinking terminal ballistics will be pretty close, and if subsonic, maybe favor the UMP, going to have to see.
I will use it for can killing and maybe some closer range (Sub 150yd) Boar, Yote, or maybe Antelope (haha as if I creep that well LOL), but nothing bigger.
Maybe even for some of these puny black tip deer out here in OR.

Nonetheless, that is myt agenda, probably will get one for my 1911 or Beretta 9 as well. But that is a bit further down the road.

How many can a person have in the hopper at one time?

No. Sorry Sir, by here I meant where I live. There is a robust mg Collector’s group in Idaho, and they are very helpful and willing to pass on info. I was just answering the gentleman’s question re. least expensive way to get into it today, and that was the advise given to me a little while back by those guys. Take care!

Cobrays m11 , stens nib $4800 +... the cheapest... skyrocket from there. .. now if they would only eliminate the 1960s clause.. only need a $30 parts kit ...

I did the exact opposite move. Went from free America back to whatever this place has become. Before I crossed the border I had my fun.

Do the silent 22 thing. The sound of my giggling was louder than the shot. I had my way with a Ruger MKIV 22/45, FastFire 3, and SilencerCo Spectre II.

Even better is reaching out to 100 yards silently. Ruger 10/22 with a Volquartsen barrel and the same Spectre II.

Of course you need to get the flavor of the month, just be aware that the wait lists are still long in the free states. Don't forget to grab a few P210's. Everyone was scrambling for the P365 and left the P210's behind Cabela's glass counters.

Hey brother, since we were talking HK’s earlier in the thread, thought I’d share this. Walked into my LGS and they just got this in last night so I bought it. Glad I held off on the PTR 9mm and waited to find an HK.
2018 BI date code HK sp5k. Love it.

^^^Nice. I should have jumped on one of those when Cabela's still sold them, but I didn't have enough 20% gift cards, so I waited. Aaargh.

So I jumped on the B&T bandwagon instead:
