Ok, a bit of an exaggeration but serous question: When the war was in full swing and we needed 1911’s like yesterday, did they look that rough?

I don't see any that "look rough" ? These are implements of war, 1911's that went through a rebuild and refinished and put in storage for later use. No different than garands. If you want a pristine 1911 you need to buy commercial.

I'll take one!
My number is 12***.
I am hoping they get more than the initial 8000.

I have a small collections of CMP rifles and would love to add a 1911.
So far I have an M1 Garand, 1903 Springfield, and an M1 Carbine.

Well finally got an email asking for me to call CPM 1911 on Wednesday, my number was 5150 (not a good number if you live in California, “W&I 5150” is a 72hrs mental health hold ). Called and paid for “service grade”. Got email the next day saying it was shipped. Now have to wait “10 days” to be able to pick it up.

My application was received right when they opened for business the first day. But unfortunately I wound up in the 15,000+ range.

Has absolutely nothing to do with when application was received, its a random drawing. I sent mine in the very last day and and in the 6500 range

Just put my CMP 1911 in jail. 1943, very pleased with it. Remington Rand slide & frame. ANAD (Anniston Army Depot), FJA - Frank J. Atwood inspector.

Here are some gun store pics. The pistol was shipped bone dry. Good lock up. Nice trigger. Will post better pics after I pick it up.

Order thread on CMP forum indicates RGN 6008 and 6019 were notified today and offered all three grades. I'm RGN 62xx and wouldn't be surprised if I get "the call" next week......at least I'm hoping.

Nice looking Pre-A1. Looks like Pre-A1 slide too? Serial comes back to 1918. Can’t wait to see more pics! Congrats!

Got the call today from CMP. Actually it was a voicemail that came in while I was taking a nap this afternoon. When I called CMP back, they were just closing up shop and asked me to call back Monday morning. I also got an email from them. This is going to be one l-o-n-g weekend. My RGN is 62XX. You can bet I'll be on the phone bright and early Monday morning with payment information.

Very nice! I never saw a 1911 frame and slide on the same pistol my entire service career. I wonder is a caring tech mated them up during the rebuild process for posterity.

I also wonder how they came together. They also look the same shade and patina, so maybe they have been together for a while? What are the odds the slide is original match to the frame I wonder....

Looks good! Not sure if they serialized slides way back in 1918, but look behind the firing pin retainer plate and see what is there

1944 made Colt under a Rem Rand slide. Re-finished, and shipped completely dry.

The lock up his horrible, and the trigger his horrible. However, my benchmark are my Les Baers. Haters hate all you want, folks are flipping these on GunBroker for $500 mark up easy. It's the only gun I wont lose money on if I ever sold. If my kids only keep one gun and one rifle I hopes it's this and my Garand

Started DROS on my 1911A1 from CMP today. Was able to get a nice service grade. Has Remington Rand frame and Colt slide with new barrel. Overall condition is excellent; i feel very fortunate. Sure was a long wait though.

Cant hardly compare a pistol made for war against a Les Baer

My only question is this means my order packet was received correct? Not that I am actually going to get one a 1911.
She's in jail. Any tips on how to amplify the slide markings? White crayon?
This is a service grade, looks like Rand slide + Colt frame? I am VERY curious as to what field/rack grades will look like because this Service certainly has its fair share of blemishes. For the record not complaining but the few photos i've seen of 'field' grade seem to be identical to what I have.

I've seen some really nice Field grades coming out of CMP over the last couple weeks. You can check CMP's 1911 forum for pics.

Good luck with whatever you decide upon.

Congrats! I didn't know you got to choose at this point. But given the choice I would go Service Grade.

If you don't mind me asking - what was your RNG #?

Yes you are given a choice, choice may be Service ,Field or Rack or only Field and Rack depending on what they have graded at the time.
Mine arrived yesterday and number was 6719

Just got the call!!

For those still waiting, I was #70XX. I was offered all three grades and I went with Service.

They didn’t have my proof of marksmanship for some reason, but they said not a problem, just email it in, which I just did.

Looking forward to see what shows up!!
