Default !!APTS 22LR match rescheduled to 061309!!

My wife is going in for some medical tests next week and as a result I will be unavailable next weekend. The 22LR match scheduled for June 6, 2009 is rescheduled to June 13, 2009. All else is the same (start time etc) and we will maintain our D-Day theme.

Please let me know if you will be participating on this new date.

Thanks

Bill,

Tell the truth. You rescheduled the match so I could make it.

You ROCK!

Henry

I will try to be there with my camera. If I can't shoot bullets, maybe I can at least shoot photos!

Yeah, that too!

Just got back from 3 doctor visits... and things are looking better. Blood around my lung is receding on its own, ribs are moving closer together and the collar bone is close to straight again too. Still a long road to full recovery, but at least I'm making positive progress. I start physical therapy for my shoulder next week for 6 weeks!

I probably won't be able to shoot any matches the rest of this year, but I'm hoping by Fall I can at least practice at the range to keep my fundamentals together.

Only until they gave me some pain meds!

Breathing was never a problem fortunately... hiccups, coughing and sneezing... hurt like hell, even now.

I think my favorite Rambo quote is applicable here . . .

Colonel Trautman: How's the wound?
Rambo: You taught us to ignore pain, right?
Colonel Trautman: Is it working?
Rambo: Not really.

LOL, something like that... more like UCGS... (unseen corner gravel surprise!).

Not bad, its my only semi-serious crash in 7 years of riding. Only had one other lowside and I walked away unscathed, and the bike was fine too.

Wishing your wife the best, Bill.

I should be able to make the new date. I'm sorta glad it moved as my own better half made plans for us on Saturday...

Edit: Awww crud. I can't make it that weekend either. We're headed out of town to visit some relatives who have recently successfully reproduced. Weeee.

Bill, saying a prayer for your wife.

Wes, I'm with Mark, sell the thing. The older we get, the longer it takes dem bones to heal...

Bring it to the range - we'll exact revenge the proper way . . . 22LR at 200 yards followed by 30 cals at 750 yards.

Having once spent almost 5 years with a PI firm that specialized in motorcycle accidents I can tell you semi-serious is when you walk away with a little road rash and a deep bruise or two - your pictures tell a different story - this one was somewhere between a dayam and an o' sheeit.

Just stay off the Crest or if you insist go a little slower and wider on the cut backs.

Does my foot injury count as semi-serious?
I got back on the bike and rode home right after it happened.

I thought it was relatively minor.
I mean, I was back shooting within a couple months.

Yeah that's semi serious - and my comment may have been misinterpreted - Wes' injuries went well beyond semi-serious.

ACH was fine... I've ridden up there for dozens of hours and had no problems. I ride within my limits (and the speed limits) and keep a sharp eye out for debris and other hazards. I go early in the morning when there's hardly anyone on the road to avoid getting caught in someone else's screw up. I usually go with a partner... to have help if I need it. And I always, ALWAYS wear my gear. Not matter how hot or uncomfortable it gets. If its too hot to ride with my full gear, then I won't ride.

I crashed on the on-ramp to the 210 on a patch of gravel the same color as the asphalt that was kicked out into the road by some asshat who cut the corner. I was probably not paying as much attention as I should have been. But I've gone over things and there's not much I could've done differently, except gone around the turn nearly upright and at 2-3 mph. Meh, Sometimes you just screw up. I broke bones, but it could've been a LOT worse if I hadn't been doing all the things I do to protect myself. As it is, I will heal completely!
I know lots of folks who hurt themselves pretty good driving cars, water-skiing, snow-boarding, skateboarding, bicycling, and even taking a freaking shower. There were two people in the emergency room with me who had bleeding head wounds from tripping and falling on the sidewalk! Hell, my Dad broke 4 ribs getting up in the middle of the night to take a piss and stepped on the dog!

You know, I've had several people try to convince me to give up shooting because "its dangerous." Should I listen to them? No! There's nowhere in the world that you're safe from harm. No activity you can do that has zero risk. And I'm not going to sit around and grow old and boring, looking back on my life wishing I had done the things I love, but didn't because I was afraid to get hurt.

My gear did its job well, all except one piece... my back protector. So, I got a much better one. I'm also considering taking an advanced track riding course to improve my riding skills and reaction times. I'm going to ride until I'm too old to get on the bike or don't enjoy it any more.

Same with shooting, drumming and all my other hobbies. No, I'm definitely not ready to give anything up at this point.

Guns aren't the problem, money isn't the problem... its getting a freaking match BARREL that's the problem right now. I finally have 1,000 155 Scenars on the way from a group buy I got in on 4 months ago, and I already have 500 of the new Sierra 2156s to try out with the 5R. Plenty of powder, primers and brass thankfully. At least for a year or so.

I really just need some barrels right now. I want to rebarrel the 700P I've been sucking with for the last year, and to finish my AR builds. I wouldn't mind a backup blank for the 5R when it goes. Good barrels are pushing more than 12 months right now and even the lower end ones are running about 20 weeks! Teh suck!
