Default FFL

Heads up. For those of you planning on using RIFLEGEAR in Fountain Valley for the transfer, effective Jan 1 their prices will be going up to $100 (including DROS) and they will be charging sales tax. Previous post had old policies.

I spoke with a rep at Ammo Bros Cerritos as well and they charge $100 including DROS + tax.

At least both have no problems with Saigas

^^^ if I'm not mistaken, that's $15 less (not $20)...

Also, fwiw, Rifle Gear is OC tax, Ammo Bros Cerritos is LA tax... makes Rifle Gear $5 less. As far as I'm concerned - if the tax thing is going to be an issue, then I'm gonna use it to my advantage as little as it may be.

btw, Ammo Bros Ontario is also 7.75% (same as Rifle Gear - just a lot farther, for those near the coast).

Edit: several places up north have even lower tax at 7.25%... I think the farthest south with tax rate that low is Ventura county: http://california-sales-tax-rate.findthebest.com/ so if you have an FFL with decent rates in that tax bracket, use 'em.

depends on where you live... I'm literally right between Rifle Gear and Ammo Brothers... I like both merchants a lot - but I'd go to RG first due to less tax.

I actually use different FFL altogether (usually), but in the case of 1% less, if it's equal distance it makes no sense to pay the higher tax.

And for the love of god stay away from places like Santa Monica (9.25%) and South Gate (9.75%).

Default Wheres the beef?

I got an update from Atlantic today that they were told that the shipment will arrive sometime next week. Maybe. They dont know how many they will get.

Im going to RifleGear tomorrow to check out their Saigas. They are out of conversions but have 20 Cali units in stock. $699 and these have the side rail scope mount.

Possibly a better solution to those local. I like the idea of a store I can take my gun to if there is an issue and no FFL transfer foolishness.

The Atlantic deal is still cool but RifleGear is also an option for those done waiting.

if my quick calculations are correct, that's roughly $50 more otd... I wonder if they would be willing to do a GB too - to get closer in price? (since this GB probably wont accommodate everyone)...

I got RG to give me the NOT Cali legal price cuz i told them about this GB. But even with the discount, I figured about ~$100 more due to ffl transfer, shipping and tax... Went to the range today and found out the new radlock they install are crap. I was able to take my 10rd mag out without using the radlock! And even worse, the mag was so loose that it would sometimes pop out while shooting or cause a jam.

Went to RifleGear and after shooting the sh*t about guns for I while I pulled the trigger on a new California Saiga 12!

Good people there. Not only do I get to support a California business, but you deal with sales reps that dont act like they are doing you a favor by selling you a firearm.

They are in the process of redesigning the radlock. I will have the new one installed before the waiting period is up.

Depending on the time frame I may still take advantage of the Atlantic deal as well.

Damn, I wish I could get dealers here in Fresno to match those prices your getting, but nobody has them so $700 is the norm around here

Update on the radlock issue:

RifleGear is sending me a new updated radlock. Thanks Riflegear! Hopefully it will solve my pop out mag issue. Apparently radlock only tested it with the stock mag. And it does works with my stock mags. I just tried it. The problem is with the AGP Arms gen 2 mags. Will update again when I get the new radlock.

thanks for your patience!!
