Help ID an Old Revoler
Hey guys, I come to you again with another Gun i enhearted from my great grandfather. I know its on Old Black Powder Colt. But seem to be Google failing and not finding much else.... here is some pictures i took.
Has what looks like SEPT 10 1850, with Connecticut Valley Arms INC I found this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colt_1851_Navy_Revolver not sure its the same? Thanks Guys |

lol, it happens to all of us. Don't stress, that is what boards are for. I don't know if it is a kit gun, or one that came assembled. They have been sold both ways. I don't think they make these any more. Fun guns, though.

Out of curiosity how much would a repo 1851 Navy go for? I have a guy wanting to sell me one but is asking $400. Good price or no?

It's missing the barrel wedge but other than that looks OK, You're probably looking at a value of $100 to $150 depending on how well it works.

If you intend to shoot the gun a lot, go for a STEEL frame BP revolver. Best I have found is Cimmarron Arms (or any others made by Uberti).
BTW that Connecticut Arms was also made in Italy and is a sort of repro of a Colt Army Model of 1860, except that the Col. didn't make any with brass frames. |

If it's not a Colt, he's trying to rip you off. If it is a Colt, that's about right depending, of course on the condition.
