I spent a little over $400:

Training - $200
Live Scan - $110
Check to OCSD - $102

Well it depends on when you got your permit. Back in May last year, training and qualifying 3 guns cost a little more (there were only 3 trainers at the time)
Live scan was about $5 higher.
OCSD was the same
Expended over 325 rounds of .357/.40/.45 at last years ammo prices. Mine totaled a little over $600. That is not including gas and parking fees.

My guess is there are those who needed to go buy a gun for CCW and are rolling that into the cost.

Some folks are counting the cost of a new CCW gun and ammo. All in, I was at about a grand.

From the OC Register: Some getting a concealed weapons permit in O.C. avoid new, stricter rules

"Applicants whose reason for needing a concealed weapon has been approved under the old relaxed standards can continue unhampered through the process. Those who havenít reached that stage, about 6,000 applicants, will have to meet stricter standards, such as for large amounts of money or work in dangerous areas."

Nice touch for the columnist to use a female as example of one of the few that got in "within the grandfathered period "... Very clever if purposefully done.

Reads well and shouldn't cause any freak-out.

I wonder how this will play out when renewals come up, to me I think we should be grandfathered in as it was the law of the land when the permit was issued.

Just like something like gay marriage, if it was law and you were married under it it's good forever even if they change the law. Should be the same for a CCW IMO. BTW I'm all for gay marriage.... why should straight people be the only ones miserable

The words "finalization appointment" were used in the letter I received, meaning final appointment.

Regards,
How did you get an appointment 1.5 months after your request? Some of us have waited 6+ months just to get in to turn in paperwork.

Sadly some people just get lucky.

Good afternoon,

I don't have an answer. However I am terribly sorry that some gunners have waited six months, that doesn't make any sense.
