Has anyone called to see what they say at the permitting office? It would be interesting to see what happens during the interim time while this case is figured out.

As was mentioned before, don't do your training until you have been approved. If you aren't approved, you will have wasted that money and time.

If you do get approved, make sure you do your training only with one of the trainers listed within the application. The Sheriff will not accept a training cert from any others.

Or move to Orange County. Their Sheriff just approved "self defense" as good cause because they see the writing on the wall. Sheriff Dean is obviously not a true 2A supporter. If he was, his CCW approval rating would be more like 75% of applicants than the 2-3% it has been. Good luck to you all and let us know how it goes. I am waiting for the dust to settle, even though people have told me that I have a pretty good cause. I would much rather exercise my 2A right because I have the right than because some politician like Sheriff Dean "allowed" me to.

Yes, I think the announcement today changes everything. If we can go until March 6th without the 9th deciding to rule on this again (unlikely most of the legal eagles are saying for many reasons), Shall Issue becomes law in California. Woot!

I think you are all on the list are making a mistake by running in there as a group. I would just individually call, make a appointment and start the process. The staff is very helpful - be a respectful gun owner.

far from tactical - $600 is a lot of money, Ya'll be careful who you throw your money to. My class including 3 weapon qualification was a 1/3 of that amount. Check the approved list.

Yeah I think the Island View pricing is an opportunity for them to price gouge a little bit. $600.00 is pretty pricey. If CA does become a Shall Issue state then they will be getting an influx of people wanting to take a course.

Doing research most of the classes range between $100 - $200 from what I have seen.

Come on Island View don't be one of those companies that are trying to stick it to your customers.

At the prices your quoting I would easily drive to one of the more distant training classes being offered.

VCSO used to have a list of approved training facilities any one have it? I agree $600 is way too high in the end you are in for shy of $1000 plus however much your time is worth.

Download the CCW application from the VCSO website - the list is right there.

I've done most of my training with them and it's not cheap about $200-$250 per class. To me it was worth it though. Also, you'll have to talk them, but I'd guess they won't let you take the CCW class (DH 3) without taking DH 1& 2 (defensive handgun).

So, I was successful in getting my appointment today for 3/10. I'm trying to determine whether we as a group can get the CCW training facility (Island View or other) to do a group discount. As I look up the recognized CCW trainers on the VCSO list I see that the costs have sky rocketed. Any thoughts?

Your'e right, it is no longer there.

For years, the list was pre-pended to the application.

I'll see if I can get ahold of the list.

Default Traffic tickets on CCW App

The application asks for all traffic tickets in the last 5 years. I had one in 2009 and one in 2012, both dismissed after I took the traffic school courses. I have no idea what the ticket numbers were. How do I list these?

If they were in Ventura County, this may help you:

Printed and filled out the application... The section for good cause is still there though... I just put "Personal Protection"

Right?! Am I missing something?
