It felt ok in the store when i was checking it out, Since i was looking at the display model id imagine it was fairly dead, still pretty bright though, i looked into it then had to fill out a DROS form, just a big spot over the paper for like 10 minutes haha...do you feel like its lacking and wish you had the TLR-1 or is that pretty good?

For what I need, it seems perfect. It's smaller and lighter than the TLR-1, and easily lights up a decent sized room. For me, living in a residential area in a small house, it's perfect.

If I lived on a ranch or something and thought I needed something to search a barn or outdoors with, I might go with the TLR-1 because of the wider, stronger beam, but for identifying and fighting off a home intruder, it fits the bill.

Sounds good then, ill probably pick up the TLR-3, realistically im probably just gonna use it for fun when me and the buddies go night shooting which isnt that often anyways, and even then i doubt ill ever need it for a HD situation and even if i were too, sounds bright enough.
Thanks bud!

One thing to think about if it applies is, there are very limited options for holsters that fit a tlr3. I had one on my mp and couldn't find a safariland or other popular manufacturers to save my life. Coincidently, at the same time the tlr1s' started popping up on sale for $90-$102 on amazon, primary arms etc. I sold my tlr3 and picked up a 1 - haven't looked back - holsters galore. Love the tlr1s - best bang for the buck.

I'm getting one of these from Raven Concealment.

Don't get me wrong, I like the TLR-1, I just prefer the smaller light for my uses.

Thanks I picked up two of them for my StormLake S&W M&P Pro .40 to 9mm Conversion Barrel 5.01" Standard Length Stainless Steel Isonite QPQ Black Finish.
Funny thing is 2 x of these same mags are selling on ebay now for the price of $113.00 with 1 day to go and I only paid shipped $70.00 bucks I guess no one knows how to google.

Here is my S&W M&P 40L 5" with my new Streamlight TLR-1 HL 630 lumens along with a Apex Duty Kit and Ram... Also just ordered a Extended Magazine Release for it.

Hey guys, I am coming to you gurus for help to hopefully identify what I am doing wrong. I have had my Shield 9 for about 4 weeks now and I am frankly a little disappointed in myself.

I must be taking a long time getting used to the small size and light weight of this pistol. I am more accustomed to shooting my 1911 almost exclusively and just comparing the two, the 1911 is just so much easier to shoot. I feel like there must be something I am doing wrong maybe you guys can help me identify that or at least give me an idea of what to try differently.

I have one really newb question to get out of the way... is it a big deal if i shoot normally (right handed) but use my left eye to line up my sights? I am a lefty and I learned to shoot a rifle backwards (ie lefthanded) but when shooting a pistol it feels more natural to use my right hand primarily. Is that bad?

whats frustrating me is that my shots seem to be grouped OK but they are ending up in the 6-9 oclock regions as indicated by the red region here.

These are all at 7 yards. 115g FMJ

so looking at these, any clues as to why I am sucking so bad at this?

Thanks guys!

Being cross eye dominant (I think that's what they call it) is perfectly fine. Nothing like that will screw up shooting straight , although it may slow down drawing, speed, peripheral vision.

99% chance you are flinching IMO. You are anticipating the recoil, so just before the trigger breaks, you are pushing the muzzle down slightly. Try dry firing it and see if the front sight moves when the trigger breaks.

But overall , nice shooting! If you haven't done so already, I would recommend a class or private lesson. 9mmepiphany is a member on here that I would recommend as a private lesson coach. He knows his stuff and is very nice. It depends on your location though.

this is what I was going to suggest to him as well... but figured I'd let someone else more experienced mention it.
The consistent grouping being low left seems indicative of anticipating recoil... or possible misaligned sights (although being low suggests the former).

I just jail a fullsize 9mm. Going back and forth with the glock and I just couldn't see myself buying a glock. Few things I notices from my friend's older gen m&p9. Much better trigger with very noticeable reset, "stainless" logo is gone, and supposedly barrel design is different for better accuracy. But the trigger alone makes the gun feel so much better.

Any recommendation on future upgrades? also where can i buy Pro-Series back straps? thanks

I too have an M&P 40 and looking at these pictures posted here I noticed some have the word 'Stainless" along the slide and some don't.

I checked mine at home and mine does not say 'stainless' either. Is there any difference? Aren't all the slides stainless?

^^there are no difference as far as material of the slide. I believe newer generation 2012 and up have no "stainless" stamped on it. However there are few changes in the internals, such as trigger (sear), barrel, and few other minor things. The magazine base plate and follower were changed as well (probably not the 10rd version)

So i picked my m&p 9 yesterday and few things i noticed. The gun came with 0 lubrication from the factory. The slide and internals were bone dry. Is this normal? All my other guns came with excessive amounts of lubrication from the factory and it is my first S&W. Another thing i notice was that magazine didnt pop out as easily. I bought 4 additional magazines and only 2 (not the one that cames with the gun) of 6 function correctly. I think i might need to sand the plastic portion of the 10rd magazines

The M&P slides without stainless engraving are made out of used chewing gum

For all you 5" pro series owner, this question is for you. I was looking into getting the 6355 safariland als tactical leg drop holster but they don't seem to make one for the 5" pro series. Do you guys have any recommendations? Maybe buy one the 1911(5" bbl) version and hope it fits? Thanks for your help

I picked my new M&P up on Saturday and it was fairly dry as well.

Not sure why this is a problem. Best practice is to clean and lube before shooting anyway.

Regarding stipple jobs, your best bets will be Enhanced Precision Products or WeaponWorx. Both do great work on M&P.

Normally, most guns come extra amount of lub + grease to preserve it. I find it odd that SW didnt. And ofcourse i cleaned it and lubed it
