Default Best Open Sights Air Rifle?

I'm looking for an accurate, decently powered, non scoped open sight rifle. What do you guys have and recommend?

You can get a Browning BLR in .30-06 with open sights.

I think 30-06 maybe a little bit more punch and possibly noise than he was looking for.

In my limited experience, some of the entry level air rifles I have bought had good accuracy. 25 yards or so. Gamo Whisper types from Big 5. Depends on what your using it for.

I prefer .270...
But, as asked in the thread title, I'm looking for an air rifle, or more accurately, a pellet rifle.

I bought my kid a $150 scoped pellet rifle (1000 fps) as it is garbage. Scope will not dial in. 6" to 10" off from one shot to the next... at 40'!

I was thinking of getting a Bengamin as that's what I wanted as a kid. But I heard Crossman bought them, so I'm not sure if the quality is there. Haven't been into this in a long, long time. I'm doing my research, just thought someone could throw me a bone so I know what direction to look.

Rifle was accurate out of the box but the trigger definitely needed the work. Now at 25 yards off a rest, I can put ten shots in a dime sized group. If one doesn't want to use a Scope, the Maximus comes with a set of Fiber Optic sights that are pretty good. The Benjamin pump the rifle comes with in the Maximus Starter Kit works well. When pumped up to the 2000PSI maximum, I get about 20 consistent shots before the POI starts to drop.

You can order direct from Crosman and save 25% using discount code "AGNATION" (without the " marks) and if you place your order on a Friday morning, you'll get free shipping. The Maximus Starter Kit would be $262.49 shipped to your door.

What are you shooting? Targets or critters?
What range are you shooting?
What is your budget?

Benjamin Marauder PCP is a good starting point.

Good questions...
Target & varmints
25 to 75 yards
$150 - $300

I like the Marauder... excellent reviews. It might stretch the budget, but that looks like it would be worth checking out. Thanks

Go here....

https://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA...p?action=forum

Read up. Lotsa great info. I just picked up an AA TX200 and its friggin awesome. Out of your price range & requires a scope but its an heirloom rifle.

All guns are the same, generally you get what you pay for.

PCP, Multi pimp pnuematic, or spring powerplant? For spring guns, Air Arms, RWS, and Beeman/Weirauch rifles are the best. Air Arms and Beeman both are a slight bit above RWS in fit and finish, but you pay a bit more. An older Sheridan "C" series rifle is also a great multipump pneumatic that is reliably accurate with open sights. PCP's I couldn't tell you about, but Maurauders seems to be the best value in entry level, with a bunch of aftermarket parts and tuneability to bring out the best in the platform. I owned a Gamo CFX, and it was the worst shooting, buzziest, twangyest(?), rifle I've ever shot. Very hold sensitive and had a triggger that was like trying to drag it through gravel to get it to fire. I ended up selling that thing for dirt cheap just to be rid of it.

The Beeman Silver Kodiak X2 dual caliber (with two barrels in .177 and .22) for a hundred bucks at Walmart seemed like a good deal when Big 5 was selling them for 228! Has to have a scope though!

https://www.walmart.com/reviews/product/27944720

That Beeman has some punch too based on following comparison youtube:

Here are a few that have the potential to be "the best" after a little work:

this is probably the best gun for open sights, and it's fair priced and will last for decades, I know cause I have several all in different calibers, this is the 392 .22 cal
http://www.pyramydair.com/s/m/Benjam..._air_rifle/205
and if you could find a vintage Sheridan for sale, that would be a great find,
all these Benji's are Pumpers so there is no air tank and other devices to purchase, unless you want to go PCP, but there is a limited amount that come with open sites, most require a scope.
I don't know anyone that has a Benjamin /Sheridan that would say don't get one, anyone that owns one usually loves the gun.

if you want a PCP, the Benjamin Discovery, Maximus and Wildfire, Beeman QB Chief are well within your price range and are all open sight.

Don't think you are too far from me. If you want a good Benji or Sheridan I've got a few.
04 Benji Sheridan C9A .20cal (bottom one)

79 Sheridan Silver Streak .20cal (middle one) other 2 are sold.

Nice collection of 'dans. I have a steroid tuned silver streak that puts Korean heavy pellets out at 675 fps with 10 pumps. Williams peep gets me quarter sized groups at 15 yds with heavies. Dime sized groups with JSB exacts. All my older kids got vintage Sheridans when they hit 12. Getting hard to find at a decent price though.

OP, note that Beeman sells two lines of airguns. A walmart line, and a line made in Germany by HW. The German line will be denoted as R1, R7, P1, P3, etc. The walmart econmy line is either RS or some other name. Two different worlds of difference between the quality between the two lines.

I have one of these:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B007F...R0L&ref=plSrch

Yes it has a rear sight fully adjustable for windage and elevation just like the real deal. The only pellet rifle with a full sight radius.

It is reasonably accurate and semi-auto too......so far has been reliable.

It does eat through CO2 like nobody's business.

Good luck OP

OP, this is what I have as well but in .22.

Mine is at least 20 years old and still in near perfect condition. The iron sights are great and overall it's very well made.

Many squirrels have fallen......

Feinwerkbau and Anschutz are probably the two you'll be looking into.
