Dunno the exact age but it's a pretty early model and was used by the police (that's why there's a stamp on the slide) I guess it was produced around 1980-1985

And i don't think we're much longer allowed to even possess firearms.. lefties are trying to ban them completely and atm you even need to register softair guns.. damn stupid if you ask me..

Very nice! Is that a 870 Police Magnum? I just bought one of those also but can't have that short of a barrel around here. It does have a pistol grip though.

No I'm from switzerland but I have to use this forum. We don't have any good gun forums at switzerland

I got it at my local police station They sell guns which were used by criminals for really low prices (paid about 300 bucks for this). it holds five rounds and yes I think it's a 870 (no marks beside the serial no unfortunately)

A state specific forum reaching out internationally to someone halfway around the world... that's freakin' awesome

thanks

well... swiss gun laws are a mix of very good parts and complete bull**** parts..

just an example:

you can get a handgun without much paperwork, take it home, nobody tells you how you have to store it and you can easily buy 500 rounds magazines for it. but on the other hand you're not allowed to use suppressors (need a special permit) hollowpoints (no way to use them in handguns) or lasers (no way either)

it's the same with rifles. you can buy any rifle you want as long as it's not a fullauto version (you need a special permit for this) but you're no allowed to use lasers or silencers but 500 round magazines and big magazine release buttons

and the biggest flaw imho: you are NOT allowed to carry a gun outside the house unless it's unloaded and you're on your way to a shooting range. you can get a permission for this but like the ones for silencers and fullauto weapons it's almost impossible to get one of these

but the fact that we don't have a roster makes up for almost all of this again

simply the fact that you can't use all the guns you're allowed to have is a REAL BIG PAIN IN THE you know where

I don't have any moneys to spend at the moment but out of curiosity how much are you asking for the Defender and where are you located? I bought one brand new about 25 years ago and I've wanted to replace it even since it was stolen a year or two later.

My Mossberg 590...97% Complete. All I need are Ghost Ring Sights and a few minor details and I'm done with this build.

Inspired by the new Magpul Shotgun DVD that came out...lol

The Winchester 1300 and the 870 Wingmaster are both for sale to fund a 20inch M590A1 SPX.
BigBoy... I think you'll regret letting go of the 1300 Defender... it's the best defense shotgun of them all (including the 20" 590) if you ask me. I have all of them, including the 20" 590 and my top pick is the 18" Defender. It only gives up 1 round to the 9-shot 20", but feels much more nimble and maneuverable. Don't get me wrong, I love the Mossbergs, and the 20" 9-shot is a great fixed-position hunkered-down come-and-get-me shotgun, but less suitable for maneuvers and in-home defense use.

DHart, no longer getting rid of the defender after firing it. It just loads so fast and smooth compared to all the other SGs in my stable with the Wingmaster right there by it. Plus it loads and extracts the shorter Aguila loads which will allow me 10 rounds of home defense rounds. It's currently doing bedside duty now.

Yeah... with owning an 18.5" 500 Persuader, 20" 590, three 870Police models, and three 1300 Defenders, I've come to the clear conclusion that the 1300 Defender trumps them all. There are things I like about each of the big three designs, but in the end, the Defender comes out on top. Largely because of the high capacity withOUT any potentially troublesome and wonky mag tube extensions. I really dislike extensions due to their drawbacks and potential for jams. This is where the 18" Defender with 8-shots and no extensions or clamps totally smokes the competition for defense shotguns. And the sweet action is a big bonus as well. My second favorite is the plain jane 500 Persuader 6-shot. That's a sweet gun and very maneuverable. My 870Ps and 20" 590 don't get much use from me.

Not my most expensive long gun in my collection, but the latest. Picked it up on a whim. Upgraded it as time went along.

- Maverick 88 12GA Shotgun
- Hogue 12" LOP Buttstock
- CDM Mount (had to pickup longer screws at the hardware store for my light but it works great)
- SureFire 6p (already had this lying around)
- TacStar 6 Shot Side Saddle
- GG&G Front Side Carry Sling Mount

Was using a Vickers Nylon Top Carry Sling Adapter before upgrading the stock, but now it does not fit properly. The strap that secures it is too long. Currently trying to decide on a solution. I might take it to the dry cleaners and get it altered or might pick up something different.

How does that red dot work at night time with the optics filter? I like the "iron dot" setup. Mean lookin rig as a whole.
