Default Best training courses in the Bay Area?

This year I decided that I was going to take some training courses for a change. I've been wanting to for some time but never made time for it before.

I am wondering what courses/schools people recommend. They can be for pistol, carbine, or shotgun as I'm interested in all courses right now.

So far this year, I have taken a few classes with Defensive Accuracy (the CCW course and a couple advance pistol courses) and handgun stage 1 with Don Lazzarini at Reed's (stage 2 was full so I'm on the waiting list for the next available one). I've also signed up for Defensive Accuracy advanced low light gun fighting course for the second half of the year.

I've heard there are courses that are held at Metcalf range on the 1st and 3rd Sunday's of each month, anyone know if they are still going on?

Stay away from Stoic (obvious reasons). I like NorCal MedTac for practical. And I've heard good thing about Monarch but no personal experience

Don moved to Oregon but he comes down every so often to do a few classes at Reed's.

Been looking to get some more practical training myself. What's wrong with Stoic?

I've taken classes with the guys over at Solar Tactical. Their carbine and long distance classes were fun and educational. Scot is a great "no B.S." instructor with lots of knowledge.

Depending on what you are looking for, but Robin at Gun Kraft is another good one. He is also a member here on CG. There are also travelling instructors that come to the area. If you dont mind travelling to So. Cal, you can also look up Aztec Training. Classes with top tier instructors that will show you all the magical ways to operate.

I had a good experience at the Alpha Dog Tactical Basic Carbine course. I kind of felt we went a tiny bit too hard on malfunction drills at the expense of shooting instruction but that may just be hot air.

This is a club referred to DSC (Defensive Shooting Club), instructed by the head of Alpha Dog Tactical. They still actively meet on your aforementioned days.

Thanks for the responses guys. As for the DSC group, I'm heading over there right now. This will be my second time shooting with this group, first time was great.

Direct Action Group (fka TFTT) is another option: http://dag-usa.com/training-calendar/

It's been a long time since I attended, but it was well run and I learned a lot. It's a long drive and the weather can be brutal, but it's still worth it.
