Women Firearm classes
Tried the Ladies forum and got some tips but they also suggested that I try the local forum as well.
My wife likes to shoot when she can make time and I'm getting my Daughter into shooting as well. I"ve taught them basic firearm safety and operation but my wife needs a FSC if she wants to buy a firearm in the future, and it wouldn't hurt to have my daughter go through one as well. My daughter is 9.So I know they have women safety classes out there but do they have some that are geared for younger audiences as well? Mother/Daughter classes? I'm confident in my teaching but due to my military background I do tend to come across as very stern when I'm instructing, and even though they are my daughters I get the impression that she feels like I'm being overbearing, I don't raise my voice or anything, and I've tried to use softer tones but firearm safety is priority #1 with me and I want to make sure she knows the importance of such things.

Teaching a loved one to shoot is like teaching a loved one to drive. Instant unhappy family.
For rifles, Appleseed is the best possible training and they have special classes for young shooters. https://appleseedinfo.org/schedule/?...ate=California For handguns, look for a woman NRA Certified Handgun Trainer. You might find a group class or private lessons. http://www.nrainstructors.org/Search.aspx You don't say where in the Bay Area you are, but if you're anywhere near Sacramento, I can give personal recommendations.

WHAT I HAVE LEARNED SO FAR, MOSTLY THE HARD WAY • Do only safe sex. Never have sex with someone crazier than you are. • Don't marry or move in together before you're both at least 25. • Don't have children until you're married five years or at least age 30. • Put 10% of your salary into savings every month no matter how broke you are. • Don't ever screw around with the IRS. • Keep a handgun on your bedside table. • Don't smart-mouth judges, or cops who stop you on the road. |
