Default I Need a Range

Hi everyone. This is my first post. I got really luck and was able to buy a Vepr AK47-11 4 days before they were banned. I am looking at a range I can go shoot it at. I live in San Francisco and the range I go to (Jackson Arms) don't allow rifles and it seems like every range is closed, don't allow centerfire rifles or don't allow steel cased rounds like Tulammo. I don't mind driving a little bit but just don't know where. Thanks is advance, Ed.

This is closest to you. You'll have to zero in the 25 yard lane first in front of an rso and they will put a gold sticker on it so you can use the 50/100yard lane. There's also Sunnyvale Rod and Gun Club and Metcald in the south bay.

Thank you for all of the replies. Looks like Richmond Rod & Gun would work. I've never zeroed out a rifle before so what actually do you do?

I'm looking at Richmond since Chabot closed. Need to find something outdoors. Shoot a lot of rimfire rifle so I miss the 50 yards at Chabot.

Good luck.

I know for ARs they will help you bore sight the rifle to get you on paper. AFIK you can't bore sight an AK (dont own one, need to fix that problem soon) but they have a 25-yard target just for the range safety officers use for getting rifles sighted in and they will let you shoot your rifle on it if the RSO is overseeing it. I did that with my AR and iron sights.

Has this always been the case? I went there one time (earlier this year) and they didn't have me boresight my AK or PSL, however they let me know I could if wanted--and I did with the PSL. Started right at the 100 yard line without issue from anyone with both rifles

My bestie ElDub1948 created a complete list at the top of the Calguns NorCal Forum, stickied, with maps and clickable information. Another member is maintaining it now, but it's the best source I know.

So earlier this year they made it a requirement as the backstop has settled down too much and they claim they had bullets going over it. But last two time I went they removed the requirement to get bored sighted but still offered to do it for you if you wished.
