Default Gen2 AR-15 Side Charging Handle

Gun Fighter Gear is happy to announce that our revolutionary side charging handles are back, and better than ever!

This updated Gen2 version features type 3 mil spec hard coat matte black anodizing, larger anti slip pins, and a cleaner finish.

The GFGear side charging handle is a dramatic improvement over the impractical design of the standard charging handle. Now you can convert your rifle to a side charger, for a fraction of what a side charging receiver costs, with no gun smithing required!

The body of the GFG side charger is CNC machined from billet 7075 aerospace grade aluminum with heat treatement for extreme durability. The internal components are precision machined from steel.
The side charger knob is knurled for maximum control.

The side charger is Type 3 mil spec anodized matte black, with a machine engraved GFG logo *will never wear off like cheap laser etching*.

1/4 riser required for clearance with some brands of scopes and/or scope rings.

Glam shots.

RobGR, I think the price is 150.00. There might be a CG discount though

Very cool! I always was envy of my brothers forward charging handle on his Adcor Elite. I would love to pick one of these up. Does the extension of the handle like this cause more lateral leverage and premature wear to the receiver and charging shaft?

On match guns they solve a very real problem. With a match gun in prone you don't want to pull the rifle out of the shoulder side chargers help with this in the case that you have a missfeed. With adjustable AR stocks side chargers enable you to manually cycle the bolt without adjusting the cheek riser.

I think it's a pretty cool idea. The people that use side chargers are bench/match shooters, so I don't think bullet proof reliability is such a big deal.

One thing I would like more though would be a dual-purpose type of charging handle, one that you could still charge from the rear for those braindead moments when muscle memory takes over.

^^^ I do it all the time with BCM charging handles on three AR15s and one AR10...

on the other hand... I've been toying with the idea of left handed bolt action for the same reason...

Thats a cool idea, I might try a run of dual purpose side chargers and see how they sell.

Thank you everyone for your comments and observations, with any new "outside the box" product there is going to be some resistance after the initial release, until the design proves itself over time, and when it counts.

Bearing that in mind, I've been sending off free samples to review columnists in the trade to get real world feedback. Also, more customer feedback will begin to accumulate as the side charger settles into it's niche in the market.

Here's the first of what I hope will be many customer reviews. In the video below Craig reviews one of our Gen1 side chargers on a varmint build.

Depends on thickness and the type of stress it's subjected to. Since your Raptor T handle and the fulcrum point is so close I doubt you'll ever crack/fracture it. Force start to multiply when the lever point is moved further away from the fulcrum. If you Google it you'll find plenty of standard USGI CH bent to the left from one handed manipulations. All aluminum CH are going to bend after time mostly from malfunction clearing. There are 2 cures if it keeps you up at night. (1) rack with 2 fingers or a Steel CH.

Most of you seem to have forgotten that although this thread is in the Commercial Sales forum, the Marketplace rules still apply. The one below is applicable here:

10) Threadcrapping. Commenting on a post in a negative manner, called 'thread-crapping', is not allowed. If you think an item is overpriced or of lesser quality, don't buy it. If you have concerns about the seller PM a Moderator or Admin and we can discuss the matter.

Do not thread crap in this vendor's thread. To add to the sentence in bold, I would add exit the thread.

Hey retired, no one was thread crapping. Gunfighter-Gear started this thread in the Centerfire Rifles Forum. All the comments were made before it was moved to the Commercial Sales Forum, where he should have posted it to begin with.

This actually looks like a pretty usable addition to a varmint gun.

Reviews are not that good and the man that makes them was kind of hostile to Calgunners.
Some of the things he posted here and on other sites were over the top rude.

That being said, I guess he could have gotten therapy since then, who knows?
