Default First foray into reloading a success

My buddy and I bought a lee 1000 and used the following recipe:

4.4 gr of IMR PB
115gr FMJ 9mm Extreme Bullet
CCI small pistol primer
OAL 1.12-1.13

We cranked out fifty and went to the range to test last night. Out of those 50 we had no failure to fires, failure to feed, or failure to eject.

I am stoked that we had this level of success our first time out and look forward to cranking out another 400 or so.

Now its on to the second lee 100 we have to start making some 223 rounds.

Quick question, does anyone have a recipe for a cheap 223 plinking load?

Thanks,

Thanks,
Mixed brass without primer crimp if possible, trimmed to 1.750, tula/wolf SRP, xtreme 55g FMJBT bullets seated to 2.20" no crimp, my AR runs fine on 24-28g BL-C(2)... but I like it hot so I run 28g of powder. Why BL-C(2)? Because it's a ball powder that meters beautifully and is versatile. This gets me just shy of 3000FPS out of a 16" middy piston upper.

80-100 bucks for the projectiles, about 80-100 bucks for powder (8lb jug + hazmat and shipping is around 200 bucks), primers about 25 bucks, and hopefully brass is free.

So if you do it right anywhere around 200/K is possible

Thanks guys!

it was definitely a trip when we got done testing and came to the conclusion that we made this ammo with our own hands. You should have seen the grins on our faces as we headed home! Priceless indeed.

Opens up a whole new world of thoughts, casting etc.
